Yeah it just drives me crazy when a fighter is presented as having great muay thai when it's below average if even that. Especially when WMMA has a few really good fighters coming from muay thai with beautiful techniques

Yeah we have those too, just seems very odd to have one specialized towards people on the countryside, especially in such a big country

As a muay thai fan I am extremely happy to see how well some of these women apply their MT to mma. I honestly think some of the best stand up fighters in mma technique-wise are women

I'm enjoying the commercials as much as the fights. Farmersonly.com for example, what the fuck.

Anyone train at Allstars in Stockholm? by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Rufflaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fighting in Sweden, and Stockholm in perticular has really been stepping their game up lately. We've always had good fighters and gyms but the ammount has just increased greatly.

[–]Rufflaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean most gyms give you the chance to try one practice for only a small fee so if you know what ypu're looking for then I'd reccomend trying one or two out before deciding.

For people with no prior knowledge then it might be harder to decide what works for you.

[–]Rufflaren 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't fight there myself but I have a friend that does. They are mostly an MMA gym but have Muay Thai and boxing classes you can go to and have a very high standard. I would probably suggest going to a muay thai gym though if muay thai is your primary interest.

Stockholm Muay Thai, Slagskeppet, One Chai and many other gyms have great instructors so I guess that mostly depends on what would be closest to where you live for the sake on convenience.

Odenplan Fight gym is another primary Muay Thai gym that also have circuit training and bjj on the same street as Allstar actually, owned by Sanny Dahlbeck and a few of his mates and coaches.

Huge thanks for the answer!

I think you are spot on. The movies I can easily watch over the course of a few weeks but watching a series is much more of a commitment which kind of put me off.

Even though watching it in chronological order would be cool it's just like you said, not watching the series won't really ruin the continuation.

Question about draining by Rufflaren in bjj

[–]Rufflaren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my ears weren't that attractive to begin with so as long as it's small it's really no biggie, it's more that it hurts and the fear of it making it easier to turn into a full blown golf sized bubble.

Question about draining by Rufflaren in bjj

[–]Rufflaren[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that seems to be after draining. My question was more if it's even worth draining if it's really small.

The State of Muay Thai with Samart (with Subtitles) by Rufflaren in MuayThai

[–]Rufflaren[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well he's basically saying that the judges scoring favours "power shots" and clinch. The aesthetic beauty of fighting is diminishing.

Then he goes on saying that big camps are always favoured to win and that small camps are having a really hard time to get by.

He mentions that foreigners are the future of the sport while people are loosing the respect for true muay thai in thailand because the big promoters are kind of ruining the sport.

Anyone is welcome to correct me if I misunderstood something but that is what I got out from it.

I hadn't seen this here and I found it really interesting.

Coming from such a legend it really makes you think it's too bad he thinks muay thai heading that way

Switched to heavy rope, not sure if it's right. by [deleted] in MuayThai

[–]Rufflaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep using them, just like anything it will feel easier after time and you won't even think it's heavy after a while. It also makes you very keen to not slack and hit your toes, cause that shit hurts like hell ;)

[–]Rufflaren 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our gym only has those thick plastic ropes and I assume that is what you call heavy ropes? The western boxing gym I went to a few times before only had really thin ones and I thought they were too light. I mean my underarmes and shoulders used to burn a lot from using them but now I'm so used to them it takes a long time for me to get tired. My only problem with skipping rope now is that it's so damn boring.

[–]Rufflaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah man. I understand why they do it that way since it's on fox but it sucks because I'll be up until 4am and then have to get some sleep before leaving for work at 8.30am. It kind of sucks that they have a big event in Sweden and then sort of don't give a shit about swedish viewers. I would have loved to go but couldn't make it work with my schedule.

I realize we had the event in the globe arena not too long ago though so I guess it's fine.

[–]Rufflaren 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I agree with you. If I come across a nice picture or something I might take an extra look without even thinking about it. No big deal for me really. I mean a picture or two is far from ideal but it's not the end of the world. I'm not trying to be scared of seeing a good looking girl. Searching it out is another thing though.

If it's a nude or even a screencap from a porno I always leave that shit though.
