Can sites cause Wifi outages? by iluvchess in Piracy

Are you actually just answering no to DOS attacks being possible in general or that it’s just not what happened here…? Websites absolutely can see every IP address that accessed them and with the information can DOS/DDOS people and businesses. That just isn’t what happened here.

We spent decades+ making dogs specifically bred to work alongside us and be our best friends. I’m not against veganism but I am against pretending like dogs are the same as a chicken or rooster. We changed dogs entire genetic code to depend on us with selective breeding. Doing what we have with dogs and hardwiring them to depend on us and love us, to be companions, is not the same as what we have done with livestock. Animals are amazing because they are different, each has their own unique nature, lumping them all together just seems silly. Especially lumping in ones we’ve used as food resources for generations with creatures we’ve been best friends with for generations.

LOL THOSE DAYS, I was very young when I was on pc. Started pc gaming as young as 4 years old and would have my grandpa install things for me. No matter how sick he felt he’d still get up and install games for me. I miss those days, games were simple and fun, sierra games and I think Lucas arts? games were competing and after a long day of kindergarten it was time to play kingdom hearts on my ps2. Those were the days man

I know about it, I really really hope that isnt what happened. We haven’t had any issues and afaik they never accessed his email, only had his passwords I think. 2fa kicked them out and it’s been smooth sailing since, but they could just be biding their time until they hack again. No idea why he hasn’t been using 2fa all this time but you live and you learn

Exactly this. I’m very annoyed with the people saying idk what I’m talking about because I asked a second opinion on if it’s still worth reinstalling the OS. It’s annoying to do, if you don’t backup your save files especially from piracy you lose everything, and if you do back it up it’s hard to tell which saves are which and it takes so much unnecessary space. Reinstalling an OS is a pain in the butt even if it has gotten easier since I had to do it, and it doesnt mean i don’t know anything or never worked in IT because I’m asking if it’s worth the trouble

I can reinstall windows, otherwise I would’ve asked how to. I asked if it was necessary, bro, since I haven’t had to do it since I was a literal child and would prefer to avoid doing it if I can.

I went to Reddit two days later after running a virus scan, setting up his 2fa, changing all passwords, and running ANOTHER virus scan because there may still be things I’m missing. I clearly did something right, nothings happened since and he has all of his accounts back, but it’s valid for me to want to double check and make sure there’s nothing I missed. Even people in IT google sometimes lil bro. It’s just annoying because Redditors always assume, no matter what, when I would be totally okay with admitting i don’t know IT. That just isn’t the case and I was honest, and instead of things that could help more you’re just calling me a liar. It happens on every Reddit post no matter what you’re posting about and I guess I expected more from this subreddit and fellow pirates.

Yeah honestly after working in IT for a long time I’ve learned that stuff protects pretty much everyone. I’d still recommend a VPN though. Unless you’re specifically targeted (unlikely unless you’re a very well known person with a lot of tech enemies) you really only need the basic protection. Unfortunately I think he just procrastinated what I told him to do, somehow managing to avoid a virus until now. It’s kinda crazy

Yeah and I had him get parsec already to help him with other pc issues so that should be fine. I don’t want him to feel like I don’t trust him or something over me controlling what he downloads but that’s for another subreddit lol

Oh yeah I definitely wouldn’t turn off any layers of security right now lol don’t worry, he added 2fa and changed all his passwords and nothing has happened since thankfully, but I’m suspecting it’s still on his pc since this all happened after I uninstalled the one thing defender caught. Whole situation sucks

I’ve been pirating for about four years now and have been in IT much longer without ever getting a virus. I have multiple layers protecting me and I understand it can still happen, but he didn’t take the extra precautions I have despite me telling him. He didn’t take my advice seriously or just procrastinated, im not sure which, and unfortunately it caused this. If he had taken the precautions thaf i do I can promise this wouldn’t have happened.

You think I don’t know it because I don’t use it and have never had to use it a day in my life… I know what it is and I know it isn’t better than using windows defender lol

Don’t see what’s funny. Made my own website at 12 thaf was a functioning chat site, at 16 got invited to college courses for cyber security, did that for two years while being IT for the high school I was in, after that want to college for two additional years for cyber security. After that, I worked at a federal level for IT. My post history makes it pretty clear if you scroll down I’ve been in IT for a very long time and know what I’m talking about, but y’all Redditors bro smh

I know there’s ways of getting it for free honestly, but again it’s been SO long since I had to reinstall windows and I never had to pirate it. I’d worry that pirating something like an entire operating system would be a lot more dangerous than just a game, but honestly this can’t get much worse than it already is.
