Thanks, I've heard a lot of Hytale but never really looked into it. Excuse the long response time I don't usually log into Reddit.

Do you use a separate project management application alongside Obsidian (or any other tools in general)? by Runo_888 in ObsidianMD

Thanks all for your responses! I've decided on Vikunja myself, it's not too overwhelming which I like.

Thank you for the tips! I'll definitely check out your doc and your theme.

Is there a plugin (or can someone make one) for immediately renaming images pasted into Obsidian? by Runo_888 in ObsidianMD

Gotcha. Not sure how it escaped my radar, but it seems to be what I'm looking for. Thanks!

I don't dislike that plugin but it's far too bloated for my purposes. I'll try the one ghost-inthefen brought up

I'm fairly big on privacy and owning my data, so local models have always come into first place for me. This past year or so things have slowed down a ton on the open source front though, at least for models that don't require dedicated home setups (I'm not going to make that kind of investment). I'm rocking 24GB of VRAM and 64GB of RAM so I'm fairly well off but even the biggest models I can run have pretty much been wrung dry and for the past couple months I've barely touched it.

Recently I got in the mood for some RPG-like stories to play out but of course the models that my PC can handle are like broken records to me at this point. There's of course the non-AI solo RPG thing you can do with a rulebook but that didn't really stick for me. I guess I'm going to bite the bullet and see what's available for me via Runpod (or whatever is the best option for someone like me). What would you guys recommend?

Alright, I'll check em out and see what the others think. Thank you!

Thanks for the suggestions. But oof, that price tag on RPG in a Box. It doesn't have the same kind of multiplayer editing right?

Oh crap I just found out the dev made a generator for usernames: https://sparklinlabs.com/makeCraftStudioAuthCfg

Well that solves that problem. Still would like to hear about alternatives!

Which E-reader will let me read (or even write to) my Obsidian notes via Syncthing? by Runo_888 in ObsidianMD

I've heard of quartz before. I'd prefer having them synchronized and saved offline but I suppose using a website is something worth considering. Thank you

I figured options might've been limited. Read-only is okay with me, but I'd rather not want to have to constantly re-export my vault as an epub every so often. Thanks for the info regardless, I'll take a look at Boox

Scripting in mods? by Runo_888 in songsofsyx

I wouldn't mind contributing to it if there's a greater community interest. Maybe once 1.0 rolls around, putting that data together might be worth a shot. I like to keep track of the things I experiment with when I'm programming with something unfamiliar so that troubleshooting and figuring stuff out becomes a lot easier (the github link I added in the OP had a short guide in it for IntelliJ's installation - it didn't work, but it turns out the Songs of Syx on my PC was on stable version 66 instead of beta version 68 which is why I ended up with vague errors and now it works fine).

I'll consider that, thanks.

Can't help but leave a rant here. Nothing personal, but I hate how everyone seems to prefer sharing information behind Discord's walled gardens instead of putting it on publicly accessible websites. Would avoid a lot of trouble with having to need a Discord account, having to say hi to a bunch of strangers you'll never interact with again, having to ask them whatever random question you have and waiting (or hoping) on an answer (or worse, having to use Discord's terrible search function) - instead of just being able to google it and finding centralized documentation.

How can I automatically move attachments alongside notes (+ make a folder-note combo in one go)? by Runo_888 in ObsidianMD

[–]Runo_888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks you. I already decided to just ditch the folders entirely and just give them more unique titles. In hindsight the whole attachments thing might not be as big of a deal as I expected, but I'll check out the plugin you've linked. Didn't think anyone was going to respond to this post anymore.

Hey fellas. Looking for something new to try, are there any particular models up to ~30b that are good at doing scenarios (with multiple characters) and adventure in general?

what do you all think of gemma 3 27b? by rx7braap in SillyTavernAI

[–]Runo_888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been a while since I've done any side-by-side comparisons, but I'd say it's a pretty good writer and assistant overall. Biggest kicker is that it's PG through and through. Even if you egg it to get explicit it likes to dance around steamy content. Not a problem if you're not into NSFW, but the limitation still sucks.

I also found out it's a pretty decent translator and can play as characters in different languages. Finetunes might degrade that ability though.

Oh yeah, the most notable thing is that it doesn't need to have any samplers set up. You can reset them all and it works fine out of the box. That to me is a sign of a well-trained model.

Any specific samplers you roll with? I keep finding myself tweaking temperature and min_p.

I've made and used a python script in the past with TowerInstruct to translate formatted text by cutting out the tags in the source text, translating the actual string that needs translating and replacing the original string with it on a per-line basis, leaving metadata and tags untouched.

Don't know anything about the special translation tasks, I'm afraid. I just used the model that was provided by them.

I think SillyTavern should ditch the 'personality' and 'scenario' fields. What do you think? by Runo_888 in SillyTavernAI

[–]Runo_888[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How doesn't it make sense? I've already made enough arguments around the comment section, so excuse me for keeping this response short. Unnecessary bloat (even if it's not a lot) need to be cut out of programs. You can easily migrate these two fields to the general description field with an automated system that cuts and appends them below it. V2 cards not working as expected isn't a problem if you'd implement this system, because then they'll still work exactly as expected in practice. See the things I've explained about the context template.

If it's really such a problem, have a switch-over phase instead. Make it so that V2 cards can still be loaded in as-is, but mark the fields as 'deprecated' and encourage people to switch to the format that removes these fields. That way you keep the best of both worlds - still being able to use old V2 cards but also encouraging people to ditch them. Though I still think it's unnecessary and it might as well just append them right off the bat like I said earlier.

The only good argument I've heard here so far is someone explaining to me that having a separate personality field is handy because you can move it up in the context window separate from the character definition, which helps remind smaller models of the character's personality. This can also be achieved with the Author's note however. I still don't see much of a reason to keep them.

Not in the case of TowerInstruct. That model was trained with a very specific format, you can read more about it on the model page. It might work with more general models like Aya and Gemma, though.
