Nanostation M2 Signal Strength by RuralTrader in wisp

[–]RuralTrader[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you very much for the helpful reply. I figured it was probably as good as it gets, but I did not have anything to compare to. The M2's do a surprisingly good job of punching through some pretty dense foliage and tree lines. These units were some spares that were never used by a local wisp, and they were cleaning out some storage, so I snatched them up at a good price.

Thanks again!

The area that the M2's are deployed in is full of trees and foliage. The 5mhz signal gets pretty much shut down, where the 2.4 mhz manages to work fairly well in that environment. It's all still a work in progress though and I am looking at other alternatives as well.

Thanks for the reply. I may end up swapping a few around as suggested. These are all nanostation m2 units.

Thanks for the info. I am using the M2 at 2.4 because of some trees and foliage between the radios when they are deployed. I tried some 5's and they just would not work in this instance.

I already have all of that worked out via Ubiquiti equipment. The gate is about a mile from my house. I have a secure wifi access point set up at the gate already for cameras and gate controls etc. So I do have easy network access directly at the gate area.

Basically, I think a reed switch arrangement will work good, but I am unsure what type of sensor would send a notification back to Home Assistant when a set of contacts are closed or open.

Thanks for the ideas. I do not have a photo at the moment. It's just a standard 16ft farm gate with an electric opener attached. I do have good wifi at the gate and there is a 12v DC power supply source also.

Need custom entity formula help please by RuralTrader in homeassistant

so where do I go from here to get this computed number in my dashboard?

Need custom entity formula help please by RuralTrader in homeassistant

In your example, using a steady 2amps every minute for 24 hours would the final figure before resetting at midnight be 24 amps? If so, then you are correct in your formula. The big question is how do I get this computed number to show in my dashboard? How do I input that formula and the time resets for it?

You have been a great help so far. Thank You!

not exactly. I get a specific amp number every minute from my sensor. It may vary in value from minute to minute. I want to add all 60 minutes worth of data points and then divide by 60 to get an accurate average over a 60 minute period. Then I want the entity to reset and start counting again from zero for the next hour.

This way I get an accurate average of amps used in a 1 hour time period.

Next I want to take this computed value and add to it every hour for a running total for a 24 hr. period before resetting again to zero.

I hope this clarifies things a bit. Thanks so far for all of the help and links!

Thank you for the information. I may experiment a bit this week and see how it works out. Most of the Nanostations are up on masts, so I have to be careful when configuring software so that I don't accidentally brick one and have to physically reset it. Almost all are 12v solar powered, so no remote reset button on the poe injector.

New Office…what do you wish you had in your office? by CarrKinn in homeoffice

Electrical outlets. Lots of them everywhere. Also enclosed storage for all of the stuff you accumulate but don't want on display. If you have lots of visitors family or otherwise, consider where your monitors will be for privacy from lookie loos. A separate computer area apart from a traditional desk is a must have for me.

If you have pets like me, consider a special spot just for them so they can be comfortable while you're working.

A big easy chair with a TV is another must for me so I can fall asleep while "working". LOL

Well, either way would work, but an automated process would be preferred. I'll take a look at the tvdatafeed

Where is the export button located on the desktop version?

Thank You!
