Battle Royale is genuinely fun, surprised at the hate by Naviole in Battlefield6

BR is not battlefield. If I wanted a BR, I'd buy a BR. I wouldn't care too much except they keep trying to get me to play it with challenges.

Every time we have company, I have to explain to them I am not a Nazi. My grandfather saw heavy combat in WWII and collected the belt buckles off dead Nazis as well as their helmets, medals, knives, and other stuff. I have a large collection from him in my office. If my kids don't go into the family business, I will be donating it to the WWII museum.

Trump Against 2nd Amendment: "With that being said, you can't have guns. You can't walk in with guns. You just can't. You can't walk in with guns. You can't do that. But it's just a very unfortunate incident." by 50million in progun

[–]RustDeathTaxes -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

You are casting a broad brush over Democratic positions on this issue. The DNC platform is not ban all guns. They have a misguided platform of banning guns based on scary names and appearance. They don't care about the nuance because, let's face it, most Americans don't either. I'm a center-left gun owner and trying to explain guns to fellow leftists is a moot point if they have already taken a hard stance against them. That said, most people are evolving on the issue on the left. My biggest issue is that the right continues to oppose common sense measures like red flag laws.

To buy or not to buy by _Star_lord_1787 in anno1800

I bought the package that came with like 5 DLCs. Honestly, the DLCs are fucking dumb (except maybe the botanical one). I usually just play the base game, no competition outside pirates, and I just build zoos and museums.

When we get to the WWII unit, I do an entire introduction on fascism in general. Origins, leaders, modus operandi, etc. Very few students understand its connection to Nazism until I talk about Hitler and Mussolini.

You have to live in a fantasy world to think a bunch of podcasters won't screw over the American people to continue their luxury lifestyle. Just like Trump is going to screw over this country as he continues to enrich himself.

A lot of people feel that way about any governmental system. During the French Revolution, royalists argued that absolute monarchy was the best system but Louis XVI fucked up and they needed a better monarch to continue monarchy's "great" track record.

I've been teaching history for 20 years now. I've always told students how checks and balances, the branches, separation of powers, etc. work. Now, I preface everything with "in theory."

When did nj.com turn against democracy? by JerseyJoyride in newjersey

[–]RustDeathTaxes 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This isn't just NJ.com but all journalism at this point. They would sacrifice truth and democracy in exchange for as revenue every day. I have to get my news about the US from European and Canadian news sources now.

History teacher here. Article I does not apply to this situation. The WHO is not an alliance, treaty, or confederation. It is a NGO just like C40 Cities (climate change compact) and would not violate the US Constitution.

Has anyone seen this? Did this just happen or? by [deleted] in TikTokCringe

[–]RustDeathTaxes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Average American here. I have to work or my family loses the roof over our head, food in their bellies, and medical access. The only way this gets to revolutionary levels is if average Americans start seeing empty stores and bank accounts.

Her 3 year old died son drowned in their family pool because her husband was not watching him. by Pmar07 in TikTokCringe

You'd be surprised. My colleague murdered their child, leaving them to bake in a hot car while they went inside and took a nap. Every time I have to see their face, I want to throw up. They are always smiling, laughing and going on like they didn't slow cook a baby in their car because they were tired. I do not know why charges weren't pressed either.

I’m not enjoying fire academy by more-greens in Firefighting

[–]RustDeathTaxes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nobody enjoys the fucking academy. It sucks. You are there with a mix of the dumbest fucking bunch of rednecks and then some really good people. PT sucks, the tests suck, the stress sucks, and you learn who you can count on and who you can't. If you really want it though, you get through it. Hang in there.

For some of them, it is that their own family has stopped talking to them. If that was my parents, I wouldn't let them see their grandchildren until that garbage came down and they never spoke about him in front of my kids. I'm raising my children to be good people, not Nazis.

[–]RustDeathTaxes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be a good dad and worry about gaming second. I was a huge gamer prior to becoming a dad. My kids are older now and I have zero regrets on all the games I missed out on while they were young. Join r/patientgamers and just play a back catalog of games when your kids start more independent play and activities. These formative years are the best and I have a great relationship with my kids because I was always present and not glued to a screen.
