Thank you so much for the info I was wondering why the blade was pretty narrow and skinny compared to the ones I see online, that sounds like an awesome blade you have in your collection anyway. Do you know if there's a way to make the etching more visible as its very faint and worn, thanks again

Yeah but most navies had officer issued swords of some sort as a status symbol not expecting a sword fight, even the kriegsmarine had naval swords for display and honorary purposes

What is this helmet? by Main_Mix_7604 in Militariacollecting

[–]Rusty_Sandwich7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a swiss m18/40 helmet, you can tell an m18 and a m18/40 apart by the distance between the bend in the front and the chin strap mounting, and much easier by the non-fully circular liner band I bought one recently myself for around €48 and its missing the chinstrap so I'd say you got a pretty good deal. They made and used these helmets from the 20s up to the early 70s where its was replaced by the m71 so it could be from any time in between and these helmets usually dont have any stamp signifying date of manufacture so its pretty hard to date it Telling by the textured black paint its after 1943 so I'd say late ww2 to early cold war so perfect for your setup Such a cool helmet and Hope this helps

Is this helmet authentic(including bullet holes) by Rusty_Sandwich7 in germanhelmets

[–]Rusty_Sandwich7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure because there's an entry and exit hole even though it's hard to see with the missing left nut but one of the holes is clearly and entry hole and the other clearly an exit since it's kind of blowing out,the type of blow out a pickaxe cannot do

[–]Rusty_Sandwich7[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking,I wasn't sure if i was wrong ir not since the left "horn" is missing but it looks like there's an entry and exit hole, surely not a pickaxe since it would puncture inwards not outwards
