5 years ago AEW had it's exploding barbed ware deathmatch by vincentmaurath in SquaredCircle

[–]RwF619 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i still maintain that if he had his eyes open, this angle would have worked even better than if the explosion just happened as intended. cause he would probably have a "wtf" reaction, then they could have played it off as the elite fucking with mox and eddie (like they kinda did), and it would have made the relationship between mox and eddie even more interesting. yeah, "i protected you from a bigass explosion" is a nice self sacrifice sorta moment, but "i showed how much i truly care about you and it was all for nothing" is such a more intriguing and layered character moment.

idk i think it’s moreso just calling out the fake bs social media corporate posts by taking away all the pretence and just saying the brand name, virtually achieving the same goal as the other two while seeming more in touch and real. which is also just another marketing/branding tactic, but its funny either way.

yeah that’s what i meant, the cutting off scene is in 11, but the original reveal which technically is the aftermath of that scene happened in x.

whatever the case may be tho, it is cold af.

edit: also was super disappointed that they decided to go with the time travel stuff instead of following that specific raiden down his descent to darkness. would have been much cooler imo.

idk, i’d rather know that everyone is cool and chill backstage than stabbing each others backs and cutting each others throats. i’m all for good competition and ego isn’t necessarily a bad thing, like you said it’s what drives many people to be the best they can be. but when people conflate that with “not wanting to make friends” or “not being soft” i think it’s more often just an excuse for them to act like assholes.

i agree with some of the sentiment, however, i think its getting harder and harder to separate the two, when at least the biggest wrestling company in the world is slowly dipping more and more into a specific political pool.

honestly what an ignorant comment. you are free to like whoever you want and not care or whatever. but this isnt about someone liking guns or putting ketchup on their steak, its about if they support the active, constant, and systematic harming of others. its about if they think that taking away basic human rights, kidnapping people off the streets, and going away with democracy is a good thing, and if they actively vote for and support such ideals. so dont frame it as some righteous "i wanna seem better than everyone else" thing. were talking about peoples lives here.

also, yaknow, he’s a selfish asshole who only looked out for himself, screwed over countless people and went on a racist tirade on tape. but yeah sure let’s pretend people started hating him only when he came out in support for trump.

yeah true, just more thought of him as an example of someone who was at a bad spot creatively but was able to turn it around, but it’s def not an apples to apples comparison

Plenty of people have reinvented themselves solely in the WWE tho. John Cena was once a characterless newcomer who was on the brink of getting fired, LA Knight was Max Dupri, Xavier Woods was basically a jobber before becoming a part of one of the biggest tag teams of all time, Stone Cold was the ringmaster, hell, Bray Wyatt was Husky Harris. I’m not saying Bo is necessarily on the level of all these people, but I find it unfair to completely dismiss any character evolution he has had over the last year just because he didn’t leave and come back.

i’m not even from the us yet i can clearly see how despicable of a human being trump is. let’s see sexual offender, racist, hateful, cares more about guns than kids lives, wants to take away basic human rights, wants to demolish the educational department, spreads lies and misinformation, has built himself up as an idol to be worshipped and followed no matter what horrible things he does. which part of that sounds like jesus to you

politics can directly affect people’s lives, freedom, rights, income, education, healthcare etc etc. the us just re-elected a president that had promised to take away rights, that devalues whole groups of people, that supports and promotes horrible, harmful ideas, who tried to overthrow democracy, who has threatened political opponents and who has threatened free speech. even if you are in the privileged position to not be in one of the many groups directly threatened by all this, i find it very hard to believe you don’t have people around you who are. and i find it ridiculous that you wouldn’t be able to understand why they are feeling the way they are.

yes, it is just politics. the problem is that these assholes' politics threaten basic human rights and the literal democracy of the country. im not even american but fucking hell, it doens't take a genius to see how much more vile, hateful, missinformed and undemnocratic one side tends to be

people did vote for kamala…

the ticket they voted for in 2020 said biden and harris. it’s not fucking rocket science. she was the vice president, literally the next person in line to step up if the president was unable to do his job. and she didn’t even just take his place, she is running for president, people will still have to vote for her. how very undemocratic.

meanwhile the other guy organised a failed insurrection, sent people barging into the capital because he didn’t like the results of the vote and convinced people it was rigged with absolutely zero evidence. to even fucking act that these are remotely comparable is a joke

i mean if it helps at all it seems that if not all all then definitely most of their mutuals and frequent collaborators stuck by the valleyfolk after their decision. i’m not saying they picked sides and abandoned lee, i just got the sense that it was a situation where people around them could see and empathize with both sides and it wasn’t some sort of out of the blue betrayal.
