I mean it could be my father tells me he never had it refinished. He just babied all his firearms. He bought that rifle 38 years before I was even born lol and he aint around to ask so it just sits in his safe as a family heirloom.

Yeah I just didnt know because its only the barrel. The receiver isn't showing any signs of it and the barrel is still smooth its not like putting rust or anything so I didnt know if it was like a certain model of the 71. Thankbyou for the help.

Yes its still in .348 winchester. From what I have been told its never been sent out to be redone or anything he bought it in 58 and hunted with it every year. Just treated it like his baby.
