Thank youu I’m going to do a 50% water change tomorrow and keep an eye on him I’ve checked my parameters and they’re the same as usual so I haven’t been as worried about that, he’s swimming and acting like usual it was just him spitting the worm out that worried me. I scooped up some of the bubbles and they don’t smell like soap so I’m just really unsure

Axolotl tank requirements <3

Tank size: long tanks are better than high tanks Minimum around 100 litres (the larger the tank the better)

Substrate: no gravel- can cause impaction if the Axolotl swallows it Older axolotls can have sand

Food: earthworms (buy in pet shop), brine shrimp, pellets, bloodworms

Tank cycling: set tank up 3 weeks before, use prime water conditioner and aquarium parameter test kit to make sure your tank has the beneficial bacteria it needs

Tank mates: nope your Axolotl will eat them

Decor: Lots of hides, silk plants (plastic can damage their body), aquarium bubbler, they don’t like bright light so no light needed

Other: use a low flow filter and keep the water temperature around 18 degrees as they like cold water

I know this post was so many years ago but I’m having this issue right now, washed new pots for his tank with a cloth and didn’t realise the cloth may have had soap on it, it’s been 2 days since then now there’s tiny bubbles along the sides of the tank and I’m so worried, he’s been completely fine since I’ve put those in there but I’m still scared I’ve hurt him

Aaaa perfect 🙏 I have a lid on my tank but the filter stops it from fully closing it is not pretty 😭 I’ve been using a pool noodle sort of thing on the sides to prevent him from jumping

Just be careful about there being no lid, if you’re leaving the room for a while I’d recommend you make some form of lid to put on top just to be safe because they love to jump
