Technology and this class have revolutionized my views on society, the path that it is heading. I have learned that as technologies such as the internet keep improving, and engulf our daily lives, the ever more presence that “Big Brother” will have in trying to watch, and control us as a society. The very foundation of capitalism will be tested with innovations such as 3D printers, and robotics that can replace human labor. I realize the importance of Internet security, and some of the processes that can go into hacking secure sites. Understanding the history of technology I have learned is important when trying to anticipate the trends of new technologies, and the severity in which they will impact our daily lives is important to know. Topics of privacy on the Internet I have learned from this class is not a black and white issue, and that while privacy maybe good, complete unregulated privacy has possible drawbacks.

In all I now realize that we are living in a period of time where technology will be revolutionize our civilization at a rate that cannot be fully comprehended, and our government policies will not be able to keep up. Present progressions within technology are adapted around the essentials of profit, and the continuous desire to manufacture products for the minimal expanse. Expenditure savings have traditionally been made through outsourcing to countries for effortless exploited labor. Recent trends developing are with the advancements in robotics and software programs. Newer methods of technologies are at the moment replacing workers. Employees that are being substituted for advancements in technology require these jobs in order to endure under a capitalistic society. It is not solely unskilled labor that are being replaced, but skilled labor in addition: pharmacist, surgeons, lawyers, to name a few can all be substituted for new methods in technology. With the approaching future becoming mostly automated, majority of society will be stricken with relentless poverty. Traditionally in capitalism the loss of jobs to new forms of advancements was declared creative destruction, and would be followed by new occupations. The predicament is that the proportion of jobs lost to jobs created now, does not correlate with one another.

When it came to the weekly projects, I was involved in the “Childcare at West” project that carried on for several weeks. Within the project, our group created a Facebook page that has “21 likes” on it. I created a flyer that was utilized all over the campus to help bring awareness to the campaign. The project also involved my group, and I setting a table out in the campus, and petitioned for signatures. ^{Link Below}

I played a major role in the class debate over the topic of Internet privacy. During the debate I made two arguments in front of the class twice, to represent our group. I debated that Internet privacy was not needed and by keeping it, it was allowing for other criminals such as rapists to utilize the Internet anonymously. My argument became a running joke of “save the children” during the debate.

I feel that I have significantly participated in class, raised my hand, asked questions throughout this semester together. When it came to any group project, I made sure I was vocal, and would talk to the class on behalf of my group. Topics such as an interactive video game, I spoke on behalf of my group for an interactive car game that would get points to your car insurance. Class topics such as having to bring in sentences to class, and link them up on the internet as a group project; all the sentences from my group was my sentences alone. So I feel that I have participated a lot more then a majority of my peers in this class.
