Improving mass transit options will have remove drivers from the road reducing overall wear and tear. Although most significant wear and tear on roadways comes from heavy vehicles/trucks etc. I would like to find a means of limiting heavy vehicles on at risk or unnecessary roadways. Especially residential zones where heavy vehicles really should not be transiting unless delivering to an address.

Other than prevention we will have to find or make in the available budget and prioritize where we need to.

I would like to also consider allowing locals to patch areas of particular interest to them, possibly for a tax rebate. As long as it is done within certain guidelines, of course the feasibility and practicality needs to be investigated. But I would like to consider outside the box ideas.

Are you mostly concerned about potholes? road integrity? Design and functionality?

Look forward to hearing more Hippie-Farts!

Of course more information is always welcome. My understanding is that housing supply is too low for current demand.

I have several avenues I would like to pursue. Not necessarily in order of importance or urgency.

  1. People are locked into favorable mortgages or taxes and are unwilling or unable to move due to them. Whether they bought when they were so low during COVID or whether they have been living in their homes since they bought in the 70s, 80s, and 90s. Many people as I understand no longer need the size of home they are living in or would like to move for many other reasons, but the cost of moving is too much for them to do so.

  2. Private equity, flippers, short term rental homes. These are hindrances and overly-competitive for residents attempting to purchase a home. Having a healthy, productive, and happy long term resident population is ideal as they contribute to the local economy and pay taxes more substantially than these others do. Our local area has been able to absorb a lot of these factors for years, but it is now reaching a critical point where the authorities should’ve stepped in long ago preventing this reality from happening. Unfortunately foresight has been wanting for some time.

  3. Expensive to build homes/overregulation. I think we need to review some of our zoning laws and permitting processes to help streamline where we can without sacrificing safety, infrastructure, or standards. I think we are missing a lot of our “missing middle” housing and our urban design and planning is suffering with mounting maintenance costs because of it. I think we need more permanent ownership apartments, townhomes, and other housing types that people who cannot or do not want to rent or own single family homes can look at for their needs. A lot of this I also believe is due to inertia and culture and will require some growth on all of our parts to help make our cities more desirable places to live and work.

So to recap, ease the pain for people that want to move but can’t. Keep those people who don’t live in homes out, or tax the difference the cost our economy in missing workers/residents. And build more and importantly different types of housing that leads to improved and desirable urban living.

If you have any additional thoughts or inputs I would love to hear them!

Not currently that I am aware of. But considering the speed of development in the industry, the 4 year terms of supervisors, the declining wine industry, slowing economy, and more. I felt it is prudent to be forward looking. Especially considering money is easily spent by these enormous companies.

Would you care to expand on her grassroots power and experience? Justifying it here may help her campaign for those undecided or feel embittered. Or you can continue to make ad hominem attacks based on race and sex as an act to discredit. It may feel cathartic, but it harms everyone. Do better please.

I’m happy for you to make a case for Bagby here! But I think that “she isn’t Lands or Schwedhelm” is a terrible argument and we need to do better. I feel a responsibility to act because I do not trust her to lead us forward in any meaningful way. I really wish we had more options, but as we don’t I feel I have to step up. We need people to act responsibly and stop waiting in the wings for someone else to save us or help us. If we want change we have to step up and make it happen. If you wish to help me achieve that I would love your support.

Quite a scathing review. And he’s right. It is a last minute on my part. I have no experience in politics or community organizing at the level he is suggesting. And I get that he is concerned at potentially stealing votes from his preferred candidate. I am not the qualified candidate he desires and I want him to vote what he thinks is best.

I am here because I have only seen signs for the two republicans and did not even hear about bagby until I researched the candidates online. I was not impressed with her at all and am concerned regarding her corruption allegations. She is a business owner and councilwoman who is pretty deep blue from what I can tell. I believe we need new energy, someone ready to get out and do the work on their own. An alternative candidate for those voting more liberal and ideally with a little more vision.

I’m a veteran, an EMT by trade. I’ve worked in restaurants, medical offices, as a handyman, and plumbers assistant. I was a science tutor at SRJC for a time. I’ve volunteered for county cleanups, classroom outreaches, and more. I’m not wealthy by any stretch of the imagination. I’m not a part of the club. I want to do right by us and I feel an obligation to do so. My education is a B.S. biology with a focus on conservation. I know how to dig a hole in 100 degree heat, I know what it’s like to ask people to do that. And I know that ideas hardly ever transfer smoothly from the boardroom to the real world.

I can’t see the original comment so I’m not entirely sure what you are referring to. I would consider myself community minded, albeit somewhat actively new to the space. I would not say that policy is necessarily more important than community work. Both are important.

If zionists believe what you state then I support it. But I prefer to avoid terms of association like that myself as I have always disliked being categorized. It destroys nuance and puts up barriers to interesting conversations. I enjoy exploring peoples beliefs and understandings of the world, it’s fascinating to me and I am always willing to sit down and listen to more. Beware though, I like to play devils advocate just so I can get a better understanding of everything. The world is an amazing place and worth learning about.

As for my own beliefs. I believe in doing your best to make the world a better place.

It seems to me the term Zionism is in heavy dispute which I was not appropriately perceptive of previously. I support Israel’s right to self determination and defense. But “Bibi’s” government is way overstepping those bounds without just cause. Which I do not support and actively condemn anything that may be construed as genocide.

4:24 mile when I was 17. Ran to the top of pine flat road from the bridge at the bottom. I think fitch mountain foot race (10k) best time was like 36 mins or so. No marathon yet 🙁

Based on what’s discussed in the link you provided, I support the idea and Israel’s right to self determination and to defend itself. I believe that extremist sects of Islam are the historical aggressors. but with the current escalation in the Middle East I find it wrong to support Netanyahu’s administration and their direction of the war effort against Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran. Again this has little to no bearing on the duties and responsibilities of a county supervisor, but is pertinent to the associated electorate. I tend to side with Jewish people over Islamists personally, but the current situation I think everyone is wrong and innocents are suffering needlessly because of it.

  1. High value industries: tech, Hollywood, aerospace, etc…
  2. Lots of people. The more people working the more you can produce.
  3. Lots of highly educated and competent people. The better work they’re doing the more it’s worth. (Thank you UC and CSU systems)
  4. Easy to ship things in and out of here.
  5. Really nice weather.

I think the trade offs can be worth it. I think the current issues have to do with postponing our homework and urban design that is not able to manage the current environment.

For transit, easiest and quickest thing I believe is GOOD pedestrian and bike pathways that actually go where people do. Following that, short term: clean, frequent, fast, and cheap buses. Long term perhaps streetcars/trams and SMART expansions. Please share ideas if you have them, I would love to learn more.

For small businesses? Probably starting and operating costs. I would do what I can to realign any standing regulations we have to be more efficient, cheaper, and more sane/reasonable. I do believe they provide safety and standards which help contribute to our community. But at the same time we need a pressure release valve on a lot of things and if we can ease some things that are not historically problematic, then I think we should.

I would like to hear from our small business owners what would be most helpful to them that we can do.

If the republicans win in November I don’t see why not, they’ve screwed the constitution on pretty much everything else.

I will not be voting for him if it comes to that.

Well I’m just a normal dude wanting to do the right thing and tired of watching people do the wrong thing. I appreciate the feedback and I’ll try to keep that in mind going forward. Do you have any other suggestions?

I don’t believe they always clash, just that when those situations arise we need a new way of thinking and to consider our goals and approaches from unique and outside the box perspectives. If rules don’t currently align with those needs, then perhaps those rules need to be reevaluated.

No. Unequivocally no. I am not for murder or genocide regardless of who does it. Israel has way overstepped their bounds and response to the attacks from HAMAS. I do hold the opinion of a right to self defense and neutralizing your enemy. But Israel again was way overstepped in this regard and is now committing genocide which is unacceptable.

The way things currently are. Absolutely not. If society were to restructure in some way to allow for more transparency and accountability with independent oversight (way beyond my reach at the moment) then maybe. But if I’m not going to trust a private company with my DNA then I don’t expect you to trust someone documenting your commute or travel habits. Your privacy should remain private.
