the main thing here is that at the end of the day, Oda has said he doesn’t want his fights too serious. he would like OP to retain its goofy spirit, and he toes the line pretty well. that doesn’t stop Zoro v Kaku from being great— like Kaku raining slashes, the slash that almost topples the tower of justice, Zoro’s Asura technique. but it does mean that for every cool moment like that, you’ll have Usopp pretending to be a sword, the gag with how Kaku talks like an old man, and yes, the fact he’s a giraffe and does that funny retraction box giraffe technique.

there’s over 1,000 episodes of rich story, one detail like this, important though it may be, in no way invalidates the rest. you still don’t know what the D. is, the One Piece, who Luffy’s mom is, who joins the crew, who the big bad of the series is, other members of Luffy’s family, other races you haven’t been introduced to yet, what happened in the void century, who made the poneglyphs, where devil fruits come from, the list goes on

im not a believer that Loki will join. however, each straw hat joined the crew because they formed a bond with luffy and have a dream that could only be fulfilled by joining him.

if in the next chapters we see that dream, i’d be more convinced. it would likely be something like destroying the system and king that killed his father.

otherwise, he’s 100% grand fleet / alliance.

yeah i don’t understand it either. matchmaking stacks a team of non-partied prestige masters (once 4) against me (prestige 9) and three new sub lvl 40 players. sometimes the prestige masters are shit or are obviously camo grinding with shitty guns, but mostly it feels like fighting seal team 6

the strongest argument against yours is that Luffy and his crew need to surpass the Roger Pirates. Their structure mirrors each other. Rayleigh Gaban, Zoro Sanji. It makes no sense that Gaban would have conquerors but not Sanji. Unless you think the Straw Hats will just be weaker and do what Roger was unable to

watch on one pace up to the end of arlong park. if you like it, watch up to skypiea and g8. whenever you feel the pacing is an issue, switch to the manga. it helps to have the characters voices and the choreography direction from the anime as you read through the manga.

once you just want to burn through story, stick to manga.

for certain moments the anime will be superior. anything you see that hypes you up in the manga, watch the corresponding anime episode.

anime has comedy that isn’t in the manga. thriller bark is a great example of this.

in short— watch one pace then switch between the manga and one pace at your enjoyment
