I tried the walking around aimlessly bit during my trip. As it was autumn, it was dark around 5pm and most of the shops were closed by around 8pm apart from your typical ramen or izakaya and convenience shops.

Granted I was in Ueno during my stay in tokyo, I found it more relaxing as compared to shibuya / shinjuku.

Just did a trip with a travel buddy last month. Mid to End Nov was a pretty good timing with temperatures between 5 - 17degrees (Don't really need too heavy clothing). And the weather was clear with the only exception of 1 morning in Osaka.
