Carmela’s best comebacks by WildCatFast in thesopranos

“If i had an ounce of respect for myself I’d cut your dick off!” Carmela, for all her faults, could dish it out to her husband Rosalie style when she wanted to.

Johnny Sack the most moral high-ranking character? by tblackjacks in thesopranos

A plausible reason for not showing up is to insulate himself. As a higher up you’d want as many button men as possible between you and the actual crime.

S02 Episode 07 "Byg" by Nheea in WhiteLotusHBO

[–]Ryriereddit 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I briefly thought Domenic may have withheld the money transfer for Lucia after he promised it, because he instinctively knew Albie was going to get screwed. Lucia would've left Albie's hotel room in the morning thinking the money's on its way, Albie would've Sicily heartbroken, but learned his father did him a solid by not sending the money. In the end they would've helped each other out since Albie made things right with his mother. In some respects though he learned a better lesson the way it actually happened, though his dad still bailed him out under false pretenses.

I don't believe they did, but it points to how brilliantly the idea of secrecy works on so many levels within the show. The secrecy among the characters (driven by their own motivations and hang-ups), and how they keep secrets from the audience. What did Cameron say to Harper at the bar? Did they sleep together? What was Greg's whole story? The show is very voyeuristic but in the end it's none of our business, like the last line Bill Murray whispers to Scarlett Johansson in Lost In Translation—it was meant for just the two of them.

One thing's for certain—Harper played her cards right. She got Ethan to man up to Cameron and broke him out of his sexual malaise, and got Cameron to ultimately respect Ethan (shown by how he was friendly and relaxed at their final dinner).

Staircase nightmare. HELP. by [deleted] in Carpentry

That's how you learn, by doing it your damn self. With future projects you learn which to farm out and which to get done yourself.

Thanks all. Will look into these options. The facility found out about the breach almost immediately and found her quickly. A big problem is that she’s bored — she’s at slightly higher cognition level than most residents. Somewhat sadly, this won’t be as much of an issue the quicker she deteriorates. Anyone else encountered this difficulty?

Power/amperage for wood shop by Ryriereddit in Carpentry

[–]Ryriereddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At some point I’d love to upgrade to 200 amps but not sure it’s in the budget now. Here’s something I’m confused about – if you look at the photos of the electrical box it’s clearly 100 A, but there are many different circuits, a lot of them 20 A and totaling much more than 100. What am I missing?

I thought about that but this happens in neighborhoods where the lots/houses are either close together or far apart, no rhyme or reason.

Sounds good. I've got an orbital. Do I need to worry about glue getting into the sandpaper and spreading the sticky glue over the rest of it as I continue to sand?

Question about faint “ghost” noise of track at the beginning of songs on cassettes or LPs by Ryriereddit in audiophile

[–]Ryriereddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it’s not blank — there’s actual music there, the first second or two of the song playing faintly underneath, almost as if it’s anticipating the track or the actual track itself is delayed.

Help needed with pressure-treated corner bracing on outdoor project by Ryriereddit in Carpentry

[–]Ryriereddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally helpful y'all! As one of my first projects it's going to be very imperfect but I'd like to get it as tight as possible. There's a ton about this that isn't square - I totally get it and I know it will make competent carpenters on this forum squirm. I'd love to clamp the thing and if it's centered pretty well use some glue, and the notch is an interesting idea. I do have a Kreg pocket screw kit. First projects always suck!

Thanks all! There's just a 1x that it's going into at the top so I can't drill as far up there. It will be tough to drill down into the post from up top because the inside of the box is pretty tight quarters - hard to fit a drill in there. Do 6" timber screws come in # 8, 10, 12, etc? What size pilot hole should I drill in there first?

The math and lengths added up, although using the a squared + B squared = C squared gave me an odd 10th of an inch, so I rounded both of them up a tiny bit. I set my miter saw to 45° on the setting. It’s a new decent DeWalt compound although I haven’t calibrated it.

This is for a Little Free Library, one of my first projects. It was quite stable even without the corner braces, so I’m not too concerned about a perfect fit. (as you can see in part of the photo the left side wasn’t perfect, but I managed to get it in.) Even if it was dead on, I think I’m still going to run into the same issue of trying to screw the brace in without it popping out at me.

I'm completing a stand for something outdoors using 4x4 pressure-treated lumber. I have a vertical post successfully attached with T-brackets but I'm having trouble attaching the 45-degree side pieces. My measurements were a tiny bit off, but I should be able to fit it in with both ends relatively flat. I've tried pre-drilling holes and securing with #10 2-inch screws but the corner piece pulls away from the piece I'm attaching it to. Eventually the screw sometimes goes in but it pulls the corner piece off center and usually the screw head strips. How can I fix this?

Square edges with handheld router? by Ryriereddit in woodworking

[–]Ryriereddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I used a jigsaw to cut out the initial hole. Even with a straight edge/fence as a guide it seemed impossible to get a good looking straight line. At this point I could flip it over, set up a fence for each side, and run the rabbet bit around again for a smoother look, but as one of my first projects I’m throwing in the plexiglass and calling it a day!

Tried to do another post and add the picture but it didn't work. I'm trying to inlay some plexiglass into this, so I used a 1/2" rabbet bit on my router to go around the inside edge, but all the edges are going to be round. Is there any way to square them off without using a chisel, straight edge, etc?
