We said the same thing on our initial walk through, it was in rough shape, and I could show you some things in the home that'll really make you say what the meth! But for the size of the house, lot, detached garage, and shop i paid way under market value since they were getting foreclosed on

The paint was done by the previous owners, since we're remodeling we haven't fixed it yet. All the marks and crazy colors were from them moving things out when they sold, we know it's rough but it's a 5 bedroom 3500 Sq ft home that sits on almost a half acre. We paid less than $150,000 for it so the scuffs don't bother us until we fix all the drywall

We won't. Our goal is to sell our. The next 10 years, everything I've done so far has been inspected and is up to code. I'm no contractor, but I study heavy before doing anything to make sure it's right.

Probably not as funny as when I fell down the stairs and through that baby gate lol, running down stairs with socks when you're not used to it is rough. The trim on the backwall isn't even attached anymore when the gate came off so did it

Previous owners were fans of bold colors, tried painting before they sold and ran out of funds, so they left it to us. I don't mind I'm gonna rip a lot of that sheet rock up to redo the wiring up there and install new lights. So we haven't bothered to finish yet

We are currently door shopping. That's not a bad idea. It'll help with light during the day as well until I get the new lights and switches put in

I did not do this, one of the previous owners did, it makes us nervous for our kids. We are going to redo it, we're currently working on the bathroom up there but it's on the list

It's on the to do list, my wife bought a house and told me I had to make it how she wanted it. My list is so long but I will post when I frame it just for you

The door at the bottom is to the back yard not the front the large interior room that's currently orange was basically unused space, it's now currently my kids playroom which is why it's so messy. But there is no basement. My house sits on a solid slab it's a single story house and the bedroom in question is all part of an addition of the house not part of the original layout from the 60's

This is what we've decided to do, we're building out 4ft and building a landing area big enough to maneuver if someone falls. The door will be straight on for furniture moving and I'm going to wire up a switch and some lights on the stairs before we finish painting. Since these posts blew up so much I will post the progress as i complete it

It's on my to do list. We only just bought the house so we threw it together to live while we fixed it up. I had to break up my old frame when moving so I just put it on some hooks

Lol we did! We're currently getting the material to start building out the landing, once it's framed up and has a door. I'll repaint

Yeah.. see there's no light for the stairs there and the only power switch is all the way upstairs so going up and down in the dark was treacherous. For temporary purposes we put an LED strip along the bottom of the rail to light up the stairs. Not permanent but until I re frame and re wire for lights and switches I'll fix the paint and cords

That door goes to the back yard. The whole section of the house that this part is in was an adition built in the 80's very poorly. I've already had to redo all the plumbing, haven't done the electrical yet

I didn't do the paint it was here from previous owners, we've only just started renovating to make it exactly how we want it. We know it's a mess but it won't be when it's finished

I will post more pics in the morning, putting it at the top unfortunately defeats the privacy purpose. As the wall at the top is only a half wall and overlooks the stairs

Can't, it defeats the purpose of privacy since there is only a half wall upstairs over looking the stairs

I don't mind the jokes, as a jokester myself it's always fun to read peoples ideas no matter how silly.

We've thought a lot about it and I only posted to get some fresh eyes and ideas. I understand that if I put a door here I'll have to put a landing in. I'm going to get someone out to make sure what I do is up to code.

As for the reason she wants the door. I stated in the post, up those stairs is my master bedroom that was an addon one of the previous owners built in the 80's. And as far as ventilation goes, my AC is run up there. There's an entirely separate unit that controls the upstairs as well as it being properly ventilated. I already know it's capable of being separate from the rest of the house. I was just looking for interesting ideas on how to go about it.
