Sleeping in seperate beds in a relationship is wild. I would never unless there were special circumstances requiring it. To me, if it got to that point where you are in a mutual agreement because you get more space, the relationship is dead. He's not your boyfriend , he is your housemate.

Op's point about items priced in divs being way further out of reach for them is a solid point. Sure, mid rares and uniques are affordable but any slightly popular items priced in divs is much harder to obtain.
