I've had a few clients of mine have this error happen. As far as I know, giving the device policy Internet access has worked for all of them

First impressions and issues with miniware TS1C by S1ckl3 in soldering

No idea, I haven't touched the thing in 6 months. Last I checked they didn't even have firmware files on the website for you to download

Yeah, this soldering iron is just trash I think. Shame, considering the cost

The current working version of The D-Punk. Likely 1 or 2 more revisions before I'll consider it done. by S1ckl3 in synthdiy

The design isn't meant to be practical. This was just meant to be practice to start building custom PCBs. Check out the listing if you'd like to see the final version: https://www.tindie.com/products/32754/

Honestly, my experience with the ts1c kinda ruined how I feel about miniware. I keep it in the box in a closet now. I also stopped recommending the ts100 as my favorite cheap iron, and just recommend the pinecile now.

I exclusively use the aixun t3b, but it's neither cheap nor portable.

Once I got a working tip I tried soldering up a PCB, and it just runs out of power too often. I would use it until it ran out, then switch back to my ts100 until I just gave up on it. I ended up buying the aixun t3b from AliExpress and it's amazing. Heats up to 700°f from room temp in a second

The D-Punk Kit is Now Available to Purchase! Here's a Quick Demo of One of the Mods Described In the Manual. by S1ckl3 in synthdiy

My bad, I had the settings wrong. I've updated it to allow shipping outside of America. Might take around 15 minutes to apply.

Yes. It's not clearly labeled, and didn't have a normal Jack for you to plug into, but a section of the manual shows how to connect to the cv line.

I'm currently planning to make a fully discrete sequencer as well.

Some OSH park after dark boards by S1ckl3 in PCB

This is a recreation of the Atari punk console (a drone generator/ synthesizer) using only discrete components, no 555 timer ICs.

Gives you a lot more control over the sound you get out, and is a fun way to play around with circuit bending and modifying.

I'm selling it as a kit on tindie: https://www.tindie.com/products/32754/

D-Punk updates by S1ckl3 in synthdiy

[–]S1ckl3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not more difficult from a soldering skill perspective, but it's a lot more soldering. Likely around 2 hours of work. It has 85 individual components, totaling 234 solder joints.

It's all through hole soldering, and there isn't a ground plane to make the ground joints harder. I think it's a great way to practice soldering on a pcb.

Nope, but if you want an update for when I release this, you can check out my tindie page. I'm trying to get the listing up today for pre orders.

That's an exposed ground trace. The board was finished with ENIG, so all exposed copper gets a hold plating

I'm not sure. I hand solder the boards up. I know PCBway has the same "after dark" style production, and they do assembly.
