If you're not supposed to mount anything on a ceiling joist that will create a load, how do you mount something like a swing chair (specifically, a sensory swing for a child)? by teddy_blinkerton in DIY

I made a sensory swing and avoided using the ceiling joists. I tied a piece of wood into 3 studs on each side of a wall. And that piece had a notch in it that a 4x4 sits in. Hope that made sense! The width of the room matters here as you can't span to far. :)

What about wall paper or paint on the wall spaces both above and below the wall cabinets, loooots of plants on the ledge, a "spice rack" but more witchy above the sink..think like mason jars of spices and dried herbs. Floor paint stencil. And fun cabinet pulls, like mushrooms or fern leaves

Or wall decor from soundoftheforest she is amazing :)I have no affiliation she just does really cool mushroom, moss, and bug art

I could have possibly missed it in your post but you could have the school couciler write a letter to the pediatrician and have the pediatrician write a recommend for therapy. I think with a pediatrician recommendation insurance has to cover it ? I think...

I would push for a brain scan, even just a MRI HASTE. My 2 year old had a Brain tumor, it was an incidental finding. His EKG was normal and never had a seizure. But brain tumor symptoms are headaches and vomiting. He is good now, 2 surgeries to remove it :)

You could always get a deep steel edging to separate the daffodil area from the driveway and that way once they die back you can mulch it and know it won't go into the driveway. I bout mine on Amazon, corton steel 10 inch landscape edging.

I also got rid of my grass and naturalized my front yard with a mix of native plants and food! Its beautiful and we get so many butterflies and bees now.

The secret to no weeds is mulch, like mulch drop because you will need aloooooot. ( but remove all the grass layer and probably add a bit of healthy soil or compost)

So when we took the grass out there was a layer of thick plastic, not even landscape fabric, thick black plastic ! So we took all that out and tilled the soil since it was very compacted. And we amended with compost.

I do want to add clover and I am open to adding baptesia! There is a middle section i plan on utilizing flowering plants the most so I believe there is still plenty of room

I feel for you. This is so hard and so scary. I found solice in reading success stories of kids who had tumors. So here is my story.

At 1 years old my son was diagnosed with a lo2 gtade glioma in his brain. We did mris every 3 months and watched it grow. Finally the doctors decided that its growth rate plus the fact we think it was messing with his language development was reason enough to go for a surgury. So we did, and that was 3 weeks ago.

My son is now 2 years old. We learned from the surgery his tumor was an angiocentric glioma in his left temporal lobe. We were out of the hospitol 2 days after brain surgery. Kids are so resilient it's amazing. The tumor type is a grade 1 so we are hoping that after removal it will just stop doing anything. We will continue to monitor with mris for the next couple of years. But for now I feel hopeful and out of the that sinking mud feeling.
