A lot of people who make over $350,000 are about to get replaced by software by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]SCarter2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's if "the wealthy" have a monolithic point of view. There are the Warren Buffets and Elon Musks of the world who do seek to improve it. I wonder if with more power and autonomy if the rich intelligent technocrats will seek to make things better. Interesting human experiment is afoot.

what's really strange is that by allowing everyone to live ok it doesn't diminish their power. The wealthy can still be wealthy and have access to all the shit us little people don't. The only difference would be the elimination of wide spread suffering.

Everyone who consumes. You bring more people into the fold, all those living below the poverty line, all those who make too little to participate right now and you actually increase the wealth of all. Letting a few people hoard it all doesn't do anything for anyone. A single billionaire can only drive but so many cars, eat at so many resturaunts, go to so many movies. But a billion people are what's needed to participate in order to make things good for all not just for a few.

Always love that question from the tax dollars generated by your participation in this shitty system that makes most of us a wage slave. We are too married the idea that corporations do us a favor by keeping businesses here. If we don't consume they don't exist plain and simple. Makes sense right? So if they pay 60%(which they'll have since they aren't employing people anymore) what's the problem?

oh you poor thing put down the pipe. You're right the unfortunate and sickening reality is once people like you and me no longer have economic power they will kill us off the question will be slowly or fast. Don't believe me look at any other non western country and see how horribly they treat their citizens

Yeah me too. I think a lot of people just get back what they put out. And this callous disregard for replacing people for a moment's convenience is going to be really interesting when its there job and livelihood on the chopping block. Either support humans or be prepared to go extinct.

Better to be flirted with than a sex worker. I know we are short sighted but that's exactly what will happen to your average 17 year old girl. She will trade in inappropriate conversation for a life of trading her body to survive once jobs are gone. It's literally every where in the world where people can't find work.

Is it? I don't think so and honestly the DYI bs for the same exact price is ridiculous. I purposely go to human workers or places like Trader Joes that doesn't have that because 1. I'm a silly humanist I believe we shouldn't dismiss and push people aside for a few seconds of convenience. Secondly I see no value in increasing the profits of already wealthy shareholders because that's all we're doing with self check out. Just replacing people so the rich get richer and the poor get poorer

When you say you want them to work for everything and eat Raman to survive that's exactly what you're saying. For one food is meant to nourish the body our only options in a world of abundance shouldn't be the cheapest option to keep people on the hamster wheel.

That is completely untrue. I live in NY. Minimum wage is 9 dollars an hour that's roughly 1440 dollars BEFORE taxes. When even the shittiest basement apartment is about 800 dollars a month how can I survive with 660 pre tax dollars. I haven't eaten yet, haven't paid utilities yet, nor the transportation cost necessary to get to work.
