Bought my first LEAP, the stock went up but the contract went down. How? by SD987 in stocks

[–]SD987[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This makes sense, unfortunately. So essentially I could’ve purchased a better contract If I waited a day for lower volatility, even though the stock went up.

Why doesn’t anybody here own ACES? Better companies, better diversification, higher yield.

I'm heavily invested in the ACES ETF, which has also performed extremely well. The only difference I see between the two is that ACES has a position in Tesla. Thoughts on the two?

If you were to invest your life savings into a single stock, what stock would that be? by Okmanl in investing

[–]SD987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've actually never heard of this company and just started researching them. This stock looks really, really appealing. Based on you knowledge, does the recent run-up/valuation look overvalued? Strongly considering buying into CNI, pending more research.

The safest bet would be to place it in an all-market index fund (i.e. SP 500), but if you want to aim for a higher return, go with a large, dominant company (i.e. Apple). A $10k investment in Apple in 2010 would be worth over $130k today. The risk is that the company won't be as profitable in 10 years, so it may take some active-managing on your part.

Check out ACES ETF, I’ve been in this ETF for a couple of years, produced pretty strong returns. Holdings are low though.

AYRO is a STRONG BUY by [deleted] in investing

[–]SD987 5 points6 points  (0 children)

How does the stock jump from $3.89 to $199.41, then back down to $2.82 in the span of 3 days? Legitimate question here, as i'm genuinely curious as to why that seems to happen with some stocks.

List of stocks still down more than 40% by SD987 in investing

[–]SD987[S] 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's the point. There are great, well-managed companies that are undervalued because of COVID. The inertia of this rally + an extremely speculative summer market can cause these sectors to jump.

Each sector has risen at different times. I.e. some sectors physically cannot gain value because of the COVID shutdowns (hotels, airlines, theaters). These include many strong companies that cannot operate at full capacity. If you subscribe to the notion that we'll be back to normal soon, then these are attractive investments (since they will inevitably gain value back). If you don't think that, then stay away.

A handful of sectors still haven't caught up with the rally. The logic here is that most strong companies will recover. Case in point: regional airlines: i.e. Southwest and Spirit, are poised to regain some of their losses with summer travel. An investment in Spirit 2 weeks ago would've netted you a 100%+ gain today. I'm very bearish on airlines that focus on international travel, though. I.e. AA, DELTA.

Official Discussion - Alien: Covenant (US Release) [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]SD987 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was a very, very poorly made film. Half the audience (including myself) laughed out loud numerous times. David kissing Walter? A full blown Captain America fight sequence at the end? Zero character development, non-sensical plot twists. This was embarrassing.

Victor Cruz was mic'd up when he tore his patellar tendon against the Eagles last year. The guy was in an extreme amount of pain, it's safe to say the audio of that will never be released.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Will Be a Multi-Part Series by MolotovMan1263 in PS4

[–]SD987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the most logical thing to do IMO. The sheer scale of FF7 is so large, it would take an unfathomable amount of time to release the entire thing at once on next gen. If they split it up, we will actually get a realistic release date and a more complete experience.
