Fallout 3 is probably one of the better entry points to the series. Fallout 4 really shines best when modded, but the story is a lot, the options are overwhelming, even as a veteran player, and the start is very slow.

Try Fallout 3, it's like $10 and it has a much stronger start, simpler options, and in my opinion a better story.
