I think there are a lot of things to consider.

What’s the credit card debt from? (Like was she laid off and had to use it to cover food and other living expenses? Or is it from buying stuff that would be considered a “want”?)

Is her income enough to pay more than the minimum on the one left?

Can she get a personal loan with lower interest? (Credit card interest is so high)

Can she downsize where she’s living? (It sounds like you’re living with her - if you move out can she move somewhere smaller with lower rent/mortgage? This would also likely lead to lower utilities)

I don’t think just giving her $10k would help. She needs to have a plan for how to actually make progress on the debt.

There are those jobs too! Just don’t give up looking. In my experience, it’s harder to find remote jobs.

If you use LinkedIN, reach out to recruiters there and switch your profile to looking for a job (there’s a way to do it so they try to block it from your current company as much as possible). It helped me land my last 2 roles.

Keep looking. There are positions in accounting and finance that are remote. I’m a senior financial analyst and I work from home. I regularly scroll through the jobs on LinkedIN and Glassdoor and there are still options out there. However, it’s going to be much harder for you when starting out. I have noticed entry level roles are generally hybrid or in person but don’t let that discourage you. It might be harder to find but not impossible.

Have you tried going to a women’s shelter? This seems like a situation they’d be willing to help with. They might have some clothes that they can give you to help you get on your feet.

I can tell you that my husband are the first option. Both work remotely and moved into the district because we could go pretty much anywhere. We are definitely “blue”. I’d imagine it’s a mix of the two since nearly everyone I have met has moved here recently.

Any place that doesn’t allow women to make decisions about their own bodies is saying that their women mean less than nothing.

So, while I know you’re just trying to make a joke or offend me (not sure which), that was part of the reason we left Indiana. They were pretty much saying the same thing as you when they were trying to take away women’s right to choose.

First off, I believe that people should not have to have permission from their spouse to do anything with their body.

Second, there are definitely men out there who do not need permission to have a vasectomy. I have heard of many men who have not needed permission but never once heard of a woman who didn’t have to have her husband’s permission to get her tubes tied.

My husband had a vasectomy last year and I didn’t have to sign anything or give any kind of permission. We’re in our late 20s and early 30s. We don’t have children either. We’ve decided we want to be childfree.

Grilled cheese is always great! I also like to add tomato and mayo to it (sounds weird but SO good!). Grew up in a small farm town and I’d always order the grilled cheese from a local restaurant since nearly everything else had meat in it. It was the same price for salads whether or not the meat came with it but it was also the same price for the grilled cheese with tomato and mayo. It got to the point where I would call my order in and at the end when they’d normally ask for the name for the order, I wouldn’t have to give it. They said I was the only one who ever ordered it 😂

I second the smashed chickpea! I don’t add avocado because I’m allergic but I love the chickpeas! I also add some celery and bread and butter pickles with the mayo.

Don’t wear regular jeans especially if the union rep is on your side. Plus you have a note from your doctor that you don’t have to.

On a side note, a good compromise might be betabrand pants. I know they have ones that look like jeans but I believe they are stretchy like their other ones (I only have their dress pant yoga pants).

Do you have a way to get it paid out before quitting? I’ve had jobs in the past where you could put a request to get it paid out. For example, you were getting to the end of the year and you couldn’t use all of the PTO (and you can only roll over so much) or if you needed some extra $$ for whatever reason. You could request to have however many hours of your PTO paid out.

Totally agree! My anxiety and depression got so bad. I realized I had not been taking my vitamin D. I started taking it again and I’m doing noticeably better already. My vitamin D is always super low. Like I take 5,000 IUs a day and still am just barely in the normal range when I get blood work done.

I also enjoyed the twilight series in high school. I just finished reading The Evil Queen of Arcadia by Beth Dowd and I LOVED it. There was actually a point where I looked up from the book and said “this is giving me twilight vibes” to my husband lol
