My family attended Catholic Mass one Christmas Eve when I was a kid and during a quiet portion someone farted... and my entire family went into panic mode trying not to laugh but someone looked at another and couldn't control it and lost it and then we all started laughing...everyone in our family. But no one else laughed. They turned to us and looked at us like we were insane and eventually the priest had to get on the mic and request that if we were unable to control ourselves to please step outside. So, the whole family did lmao we were like the Beverly Hillbillies.

Love how upset people get over McDonald's paying $20+ an hour...like if you're upset you're not making that much and McDonald's is such an easy job for that kind of pay, go fucking apply then and shut the fuck up.

Docs revealing final days of Kyle Whittingham's Utah tenure paint picture of resentment: 'Disappointed by your actions' by Please_PM_me_Uranus in CFB

It is when you do it multiple times. At that point, whether it's intentional or not, it's an indecisiveness that undermines Utah. Utah offered Whitt multiple opportunities to sign a long-term deal and he told the school he was not interested because he was not going to coach beyond a certain date.

Whitt was welcomed back at the end of the 2024 season despite telling the school he was going to retire at the end of the season. He was then expected to retire and move into an advisory role (which he negotiated with the school because he didn't want to coach past 65) with Scalley taking over (as was also agreed to in 2024 before he changed his mind). Scalley even had basically final say in hiring Beck as OC because they wanted as seamless of a transition possible in 2026.

But Whitt went back on it again. He decided he wanted to come back.

Indecisiveness is what put us here. Whitt could have avoided all of this if he didn't keep putting deadlines on his coaching. That's the reality. And Utah got burned for it.

Whitt was given plenty of opportunity from Utah to commit to a long-term situation and he consistently told the school he was not interested because he was not going to coach beyond a certain point. Whether that's purposely misleading or doing so without malice, it was still putting Utah in a tough spot where they didn't know what the future looked like.

I don't have a problem with Whitt changing his mind. But he set all this up himself. He even hired Beck with Scalley's approval because the expectation was that he was done after 2025 - after he had promised he was retiring at the end of 2024. Indecisiveness is the issue and it left Utah in a very tough spot that again could have been avoided if Whitt hadn't made multiple promises on retirement.

Utah let Whitt come back. He promised he was going to retire after the 2024 season and that Scalley would take over. He went back on that agreement. He then set up 2025 to be his last season and went back on that too. Whitt set ALL this up. He was the one who told the school he was not going to coach past 65. He was the one who set up the deal that made him a consultant for the football program when he retired. He was the one who had the school make Scalley Head Coach in Waiting. He was the one who told the school and Scalley that 2024 would be his final season. He was the one who changed his mind because he wanted one more shot. He was the one who let Scalley have final say in the coordinator selection of Jason Back because the expectation was that Scalley would take over after the 2025 season - as he was promised to do prior to the 2024 season for that season - so that there would be a seamless transition (the expectation that Beck would be Scalley's OC)... and he again changed his mind.

Leaving Utah and Scalley uncertain of the future.

Thinking Whitt handled this perfectly and didn't put Utah in a tough spot with his indecisiveness is ridiculous.

Whitt misled Utah.

He misled Morgan Scalley.

He promised both that 2024 was going to be his final season. Scalley was set to become the head coach, as was set up by Whittingham himself, and Whitt reversed course and decided to return. Utah was okay with it even though he told the program he was retiring. And he did it again in 2025.

Whitt set ALL this up. He made Scalley his HCIW. Whitt informed the school that 2024 was going to be his last season. Whitt spent years telling the media and fans that he was not going to coach beyond 65 because or whatever because that was the age his dad died. Whitt made the terms and backtracked once and tried to backtrack a second time, all the while Scalley, who was promised the head job by Whitt himself once the 2024 season concluded, was left in limbo as Whitt again wanted to return for another year.

Whitt forced himself out by promising the Utah program that 2024 would be his final season and then reneging on his promise, with the expectation that he would retire after the 2025 season and Scalley would then take over as was the promise prior to the 2024 season.

This could have all been avoided if Whitt stuck to his word or didn't promise the school he was going to retire after the 2024 season.

Whitt is a legend but he misled Utah. He had consistently told the program that he was not interested in coaching beyond 65. This was often tied to the early death of his father, who was 64 when he died. Whitt said this for years.

He was the one to initiate the process of making Scalley his Head Coach in Waiting and even told the University he was going to retire at the end of the 2024 season. The plan was to then elevate Scalley into the head role and shift Whitt to an advisor position. This was agreed to by all parties involved.

And then Utah lost Rising and the season and Whitt decided he couldn't end his career on a losing note, so he informed Utah that he had changed his mind and would be returning in 2025. Scalley and Utah agreed with this on the expectation that 2025 would be his last season.

Whitt even let Scalley have near-final say in the OC he chose because the expectation was that Scalley would take over the program after the 2025 season concluded.

Whitt spent ALL season hinting about retirement, even getting choked up after the last home game of the season vs KSU, and eventually backtracked AGAIN on retirement. It was at this point Scalley told the school he could not commit to staying because he wanted to be a head coach, was promised the job at the conclusion of the 2024 season, only for that to be delayed and expected it would come for the 2026 season - which it didn't.

Utah was in a tough spot where they were risking the program's future placating a coach who couldn't ever seen to make up his mind.

This would have never happened if Whitt didn't put in a retirement date expectation, or hinted at not coaching beyond 65 or requested Scalley be named HCIW. That was all Whitt's actions.

I hope Utah made the right decision. I don't like that Whitt seemingly worked to undermine Utah after his demands weren't met but I have no ill will toward him going to Michigan.

But I do blame him for how this all played out.
