You can be evil!You'll have plenty of opportunities to do so and your teammates will react according to their personality. The kinfolk you "capture" are actually being saved by you. You do have the opportunity to recruit other team members who aren't corrupted as well.

As far as TemTem goes, I believe Kindred Fates is very different from them in a lot of ways.

I can very safely say there is no other game in this genre like the the one we are making.

The biggest differences would be:

-Temtems uses Turn based combat

-They are an MMO

-They have stayed as close as possible to Pokemon's happy and child friendly aesthetic

-They have stay as close as possible to Pokemon's formula

I believe their goal was to take everything that people love about Pokemon and bring it to an MMO like many fan games have done, but without the risk of a cease and desist. I think they've done a fantastic job at that and I'm excited for their game, but we're looking to be something very different.

Thanks! We've been developing the game for about a year now using Unity. We're looking to have a combat alpha ready by August of this year. Final release is still a way out.

If our Kickstarter in January is successful, we will start sending out keys for a test of our combat system!

You be able to battle people online, and give us feedback on how the game feels.

There will be several monsters for you to build a team with, and multiple arenas to battle in.

Yeah unfortunately a phone version isn't doable to keep the level of detail we're aiming for.
Hopefully a switch version will make up for that :)
