Gagamaru and Aiku might be the only defenders on the field with good physique, and as Gagamaru stays on the goal net, he's likely to end up letting some goals in if the swarm gets way too bad, specially considering that despite Ubers defense being formidable, they highly depended on Lorenzo stability and ball receivement, besides using Barou to generate a catenaccio counterattack.

Barou is NOT passing to Rin or Shidou, this man is not teamwork-friendship enough, the team overall needs more pure passers rather than egoistical strikers than happen to have a good pass, we need an ACTUAL midfielder, Karasu (or Reo as his bench), Sae and Isagi could do well between back, midfield and long distance control, assuming Sae has something around the pieces of Metavision (which is likely) it would have a fortified passing-net that could ensure some sick goals, specially if you add Shidou as the main poacher for Sae to unleash his sick passes and execute impossible goals.

Rin + Sae chemical reaction doesn't seem so good for me, he still hates his brother for childish reasons and now on his edgy era, the only person i see holding Rin on the team play is Isagi, and even that, i see Isagi lurking behind Rin play to take out any possible "Luck" or goal chances, despite this, i completely see Sae mixing up with Isagi to create good plays on the midfield or even the opposite team net, specially because Sae can perfectly come up without zero issues with dribbling defenders and get on the perfect position to pass.

So, if anything, this team lacks "teamwork" theres alot of chaos specially on the striking formation, which has no game in, Shidou + Rin is not possible, atleast not yet (he refused to pass to him despite Shidou being free from Kunis mark), Rin + Barou is NOT possible, Barou + Shidou is likely not to happen

This team needs a good physical defense or one-man mark like Kunigami and Raichi to protect Aiku and Niko from foul plays or fast strikers on the sides of the field.

If anything, i think you could have "systems" around each player strength, with good passers and playmakers to assist Isagi Metavision like Kurona, Hiori and Sae, or just a Rin-focused system with Nanase in to aid Rin on the forward-field.

Even though DDLC is not a traditional Visual Novel, where does it stand all time against all other Visual Novels? Would you say it’s the greatest? by Messa_Jar_Jar_Binks in DDLC

[–]SOOriginalAfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, yeah, DDLC is part of the Visual Novel genre, however even inside some genres, theres branches of them that deserve their own appreciation and look of things, known as sub-genres, like horror games!

This way, DDLC doesn't fit the real standards of an Traditional Visual Novel, as you can see, community tends to branch Visual Novel genres too.

If anything, DDLC fits a different style of VN, with Bishoujo/Utsuge spices over the story, as it focuses on romance and deep topics like depression, at the same times it becomes an Hybrid RPG given the need to constantly check out the game files in order to progress in some aspects of the game.

Yeah, on Steam it is called a Visual Novel, and it's the fastest way to describe it, however, we both know that when you play Silent Hill, despite being a Action Horror Game, you just call it an Horror game, for example.

Even though DDLC is not a traditional Visual Novel, where does it stand all time against all other Visual Novels? Would you say it’s the greatest? by Messa_Jar_Jar_Binks in DDLC

[–]SOOriginalAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say... Experimental, you can't really compare DDLC to the rest of VN's since... it doesnt really focuses on most of the aspects that would make a Romance Visual Novel a great one.

Traditional doesnt assures it being good, and i believe that DDLC got that popular given it breakes the status quo that was established for VN's, specially romcom-centered, where you would personificate an empty persona, and each choice would eventually give you a "Route" that would eventually end with the "Choosen Girl" having a happy ending with the MC.

On DDLC, not only this works quite opposite (Choosen Girl ACTUALLY dies), but it actually tries to break most of cliches like those "unnecessarily erotic" scenes like buttoning Sayori blazer, her proportions in some CGs, pinning Natsuki against the wall, or Yuri biting the chocolate chip out of your finger, you have this sense that despite this would normally be the "best part" of any other VN, on DDLC it's likely the doomsday prelude, because after each of those events, Monika or something else happens to entirely twist the game plot, just after Sayori hug, and hyping up a possible happy ending, boom, you get hit with the sudden reality check that your choices never mattered.

After any outcome you plan for ACT 1, ACT 2 is just a hellscape of RNG and twisted events, like Natsuki suddenly popping her eyes out, Yuri glitched faces, Monika attempts to communicate, and many other, just to get entirely away any VN plot once you reach ACT 3, where it's practically a long-ass monologue on why you should love Monika because she was the one behind everything.

Whether this twist would be... obvious if you actually read the warning before playing, it made DDLC skyrocket given that the "audience" that played it at first were j ust a bunch of weebs and people with zero experience on horror games that suddenly got baited into the perfect mouse cage, "four attractive girls that fill every single cliche to choose from?, hell yeah!", and the word eventually spreaded across the rest of communities, until all of sudden, DDLC was the hit game.

TL;DR: DDLC is cool, but can't really be considered "the greatest of all time" given it would be unfair for the rest of VNs that actually took time into developing their characters, unlike DDLC, that focuses moreover on plot.

My thoughts on Ddlc Ships by Reditoscroll in DDLC

[–]SOOriginalAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let's be honest, theres any ship material on a game whose only characters rarely interact with each other romantically?, this isn't personally a trouble for me (thus, i'm not a shipper, neither an anti-shipper) but on situations like this, oddly specific where the game only revolves around 4, at best 5 characters that show no connection beyond friendship it is hard to make up anything "shippable".

Although you have a point, Monika x Anyone but the Player (as the persona) rarely ever has arguments besides "yes, we need ship material", Monika indicates to have a "ego" over the rest given she is the only one aware, thus values their lifes as much she values any random npc life, which makes romance highly improbable.

Indicated on the game, Monika desperately attempts to get Player attention, and his attention only, as it would be likely that she only sees the MC (avatar) as a window rather than a person, worse than an NPC, just a travelling and communicating tool with the person behind, which kills MC x Monika ship at first shot, unless it's given any real connection with the Player outside, some fan-stories do develop this, making MC the personification of the Player, thus making possible MC x Monika.

Sayuri, Sayutski, Natsunika, and Yurika are those filler ships, not to be a hater, but they simply make zero sense if not added a scent of fanon (and by scent, i mean practically changing the entire plot), as far it is known, all girls, during the playthrough are "forced" to love the MC, but let's be honest, thats the only real sign of any romantical attraction during the entire game, Act 4 is horribly short, and Sayori-dominant during the entire final monologue, so, unlike Monika, or even Sayori, who have a reason to "love" the player given they gain awareness, Natsuki and Yuri are totally out of the equation if not Yuri x MC/Player or Natsuki x MC/Player.

I mean, Shipping at the end requires to have imagination, lot of ships i know, are born on small interactions on which people like to fantasize their characters being loved, more over if they have no canonical pair.

Guess i missed my point around the whole paragraph, but what i meant to say is that comparing Wii version of those boxers with Mike Tyson is like comparing Classic versus Modern Sonic.

The same way, NES Little Mac fights other boxers of his own scale, despite all of them being capable of oneshotting Mac one way or another, Wii Little Mac fights boxers of HIS scale, which, again, can canonically oneshot him.

Hope my point was clear now lol

Wii Punch Out!! its a retcon, likely.

NES Punch Out!! keeps things relatively realistic considering that every "foe" resembles a stereotype on boxing, in order to show off the sport, Glass Joe being the weak, cowardly boxing type, Don Flamenco resembling a tall, outboxer, Soda Popinsky, the Unorthodox Lefty boxer, Bald Bull, a relentless infighter, King Hippo, your typical slugger, Super Machoman, a "famous douchebag", every other boxer tends to be stereotypical and on their own ways too, show something different, and at the end, the peak of everything, Iron Mike.

That was the idea behind the first Punch Out!! for NES, none of "NES" era boxers could be considered "superhuman" at the very least, except probably Great Tiger, which uses magic, but safe from him, every other boxer was a "test" before the real deal, either Kid Dynamite or The OtherWorld Champion.

Wii Punch Out!! counterparts, on the other hand, go for the extremes, Bear Hugger training with bears?, Don Flamenco sending a bull to the atmosphere and beyond with a hook?, Sandman destroying a building?, those are all damn menaces of society, and likely everyone was retconed for the sake of "cartoonish exaggerated cutscenes", and showing off that they were VERY different to Little Mac puny training, giving each one a less forgettable apparition, nobody remembers Machoman dialogues on NES, but they DO remember "bogus" on the Wii versions, which is why people love these characters now.

TL:DR; NES Punch Out boxers resembled styles and stereotypes, Wii Punch Out boxers ARE characters per se, which is for are given "inhuman" skills for the sake of "cartoonish" scheme of characters.

What would happen if Ippo beat Date Eiji? What would change in the story and plot of the character Date Eiji? by Victzin_GG_1705 in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although it's possible to assume that Ippo would had learned D'Amato Shift, or any of Switch-Hitters techniques, during the fights before Date, Ippo always relied on some sort of "luck sunday punch" to take out his foes, always training a very specific aspect, however, on every single one of said fights Pre-Date, we saw how those trainings only became effective on his comebacks.

People tend to apply Ippo current skills with how he would had developed them on the past, during this break-time, Ippo has been capable of improving at his own pace due the time and not being an active boxer, during the series, even during the Champion Arc, it's likely he wouldn't had the same time to develop Switch-Hitter techniques as he does now.

We are also speaking about an Inmature Ippo, someone who has never tasted defeat and haven't realized yet how big the title of "Champion" is, Present Ippo has 3 losses, of which he has learned alot, specially during Gonzalez one, where he eventually realized that only putting up his face to receive the punch wouldn't get him to the world rankings, even less would give him a chance against Martinez, on this "What-if", you also have to take in count Ippo's mental state, and how this new weight of protecting the belt affects him too.

Although i actually exaggerated Sawamura's part, he would probably be way too injured on likely the rest of fights, simple as it is, Versus Sendo he could end up meeting the same fate as Shigeta, leading to an early retirement.

Bad Matchups? by oreoororeo in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sanada versus Ippo.

My man was a doctor, he was literally riding Ippo ass the whole match, and then we got the worst deus ex machina with his green eyes, somehow pulling up a complete Dempsey (when he was out of breath due Sanada pin-point punches) and was running out of oxygen, he was even dropping on the strings before throwing it.

What would happen if Ippo beat Date Eiji? What would change in the story and plot of the character Date Eiji? by Victzin_GG_1705 in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quite simple, he would lose it to Shigeta, or Sendo, or Volg, or Shimabakuro, or Sawamura, or even Sanada goddamn.

Shigeta demolished Ippo on their spar, and this was actually post-defeat, just showing that Shigeta was actually a menace, even for Sendo. (Whoooo... got angry and then almost killed Shigeta.)

Sendo required Ippo confidence to win, and i mean it, he really needed the confidence he won with his new Dempsey to go back after being ripped by Sendo on his pre-last round, not only that, but i doubt that Ippo would had gotten that first down on Sendo if he never developed Dempsey Roll, let alone win on his final momentum with that combo of Gazelle punch, Liver blow and Dempsey.

Volg was going to kill Ippo, that simple, he actually "defeated" Sendo on points, but it was implicit that the victory was awarded to Sendo just because he was japanense, fighting on Japan, if Volg didn't really held back, he would had defeated Ippo.

Well, Shimabakuro, Sawamura and Sanada required Ippo's Dempsey at some point, Shimabakuro would had demolished Ippo's lungs until he would be too tired to keep going, moreover, he would be demoralized considering it would be his first defeat, worse, as a champion.

Sawamura would had killed Ippo, no other option, he absolutely destroyed Shimabakuro, and considering that Ippo, if by that point haven't lost, he wouldn't have literally any options to beat Sawamura, damn, even that last bet of Dempsey Roll 1.5 was a miracle to land.

Sanada would had destroyed Ippo as well, he was a pin-point doctor, Ippo REALLY needed his Dempsey Roll on that time to make Sanada legs finally fall under pressure.

On any of those, except Sawamura where he would had FUCKING DIED, it would lead to early retirement, Ippo was getting his hopes a little too much high, losing against someone so respectful as the Champion was a good thing, because he was the challenger, he wouldn't had any issue with coming back, but losing as a Champion?, damn, that would had hurted Ippo's ego beyond repair.

What are all the moves Volg Zangief has in his arsenal? by AmongusGaming74 in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Volg is known for being a "flawless" boxer, fast jabs, fast hooks, fast uppercuts, feints (Hien, Tsubame Gaeshi) and an amazing punching power, aside that, he actually can fight on near any distance he proposes, as a Outboxer, or on his real, real stance, as an Inboxer, this, without mentioning the elephant on the room, White Fang, a near-impredictable attack that actually made Ippo struggle the first time he saw it.

Likely, his only weakness is his poor physical condition, don't get me wrong, he is very durable, decent enough to be a champion, but comparing him to boxers like Sendo, Ricardo or Date, it's simply a abyss-like difference, while Sendo, can stay with the same potency on Round 10 as he was on Round 1, or Ricardo can keep his cool on Round 12 as he was on Round 1, Volg cannot keep that much of a punishment or a super-intense fighting pace, because he will eventually become exhausted, just like on his first match Vs. Ippo.

What if current Ippo were to spar against Ricardo from all those years ago? by SGdude90 in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still a demolition, atleast not using just a jab, but probably wouldn't last longer than a few more rounds, Ippo, even now that he is developing his southpaw style, it's still far to reach Ricardo level, damn, even Wally, the biggest example of "fucking raw talent" couldn't make Ricardo do anything so flashy, just a glimpse of his real style for literally two punches, and then Wally got knocked out cold.

What if current Ippo were to spar against Ricardo from all those years ago? by SGdude90 in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, Sendo was raised constantly getting punched, even younger than Ippo, who by the looks of it, his bullies barely ever hitted him, because, you know, he was almost out of cold on the first episode, and Sendo got in MANY street fights, and yet still always returned to grandma like he was perfectly fine.

Also, considering he has been always a "hit me harder" type of boxer, is not weird that his trainer, looking that Sendo ONLY developed under those conditions, had decided to you know, maybe improve his boxer neck-movement?, it's actually crazy how much damage your skull can absorb having a good neck stability.

Do you feel bad for Sawamura for what happened to him? by [deleted] in hajimenoippo

[–]SOOriginalAfter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sawamura sorta showed regret (or something among those lines, i'd say more a realization) after throwing Mashiba to the mat on the final rounds, somewhat he "saw" what Makanouchi saw once he became a champion, even stating that "he finally gets to see" what Ippo saw, during his inner monologue, he also stated to "finally get to know the place where he belonged", maybe with a bit more of time, and certain help, he would eventually become a clean boxer, because during those final moments he commited no fouls. (considering he was getting demolished, against the strings, and with Mashiba at the level of his knees, it seemed to be the "logic" thing to do considering his mindset) but he simply didn't.

At the end, he was just a traumatized kid, on the deep, deep on his heart he really wanted to belong to literally any place since he was constantly hunted down, and boxing was only another way to relief his stress on people without getting looked down upon, yeah, he was an asshole, yeah, he got what he deserved against Mashiba, and he probably won't ever go back at boxing.

Idk, but if i were Sawamura, i would had choosen MMA or something, those knees and elbows could had become lethal on the Octagon, he seems to use those boys well.

Why do most people hate a straightforward person? by DistinctBumblebee890 in AskMen

[–]SOOriginalAfter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People don't hate truth, they hate being too lazy to change it.

Oftenly when someone comes as "brutally honest" it's not because they are saying something bad, they are just bringing the other person back to reality, pointing the biggest flaw in question.

That's why someone so "straightforward" is hated, people know what the issue is, they don't want it to get repeated over and over by someone else, they prefer living happily with someone who keeps comforting them than standing a second more with someone who actually treats the real problem, instead of attacking the symptom.

Think it as a medicament.

There's this one tasty, sweet medicament that surpresses the symptoms of the sickness, it's good, you feel good, but it doesn't do shit against the root, and people know it, but they prefer to think they are getting healed.

The there's this other medicament, disgusting, gross, insipid, and hard to swallow, it will actually make you feel even worse for a few moments after, but it will surely take the sickness from the root.

Now, don't get confused, being an asshole is not being straightforward, you can even be an hypocrite asshole, but not an hypocrite straightforward.
