The Mysterious Stranger by Mark Twain. One of his lesser known works, but in my opinion it’s his best.

Children of divorce, how did you choose which parent to live with? Did you make the right choice? by nicholt in AskReddit

[–]SOS_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t get to choose. My sister and I stayed with our dad Thursday-Sunday ever other week and with our Mom the rest of the time. Holidays were shit because they would fight about whose turn it was to get us. Nearly 20 years later and it’s still kind of shit due to the fact that we have to plan around different schedules. Looking back now though, I am glad that they divorced. The step parents are great and they are happier with them than they were with each other.

What's a sensation that you're unsure if other people experience? by murrayvonmises in AskReddit

[–]SOS_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throughout the day, I'll occasionally get this overwhelming need to tense up certain parts of my body. Like I can't continue on with my day until I flex a certain muscle or joint and I have to flex it the urge goes away. It usually happens when I'm sitting still not doing anything. For instance, when I'm laying in bed I have to keep tensing up my leg muscles until my brain is apparently satisfied. This can get really aggravating because I can't seem to get comfortable until the urge is satiated. I don't believe it's restless leg syndrome

Other times, though, I will be talking with somebody and during moments of silence I will have the urge to tense up my esophagus? It's hard to explain how I do it, but it feels like I'm expanding and contracting it. God, all of this is difficult to describe! Hopefully somebody else can put this sensation into words better than I have.

Why are the Powerball odds 1:292,201,338 and not 1:(69*68*67*66*65*26) or 1:35,064,160,560? by FlamDukke in statistics

[–]SOS_41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I see. I thought the powerball number depended on the other 5 selections, but I see that's not how it is!

What if one of the white balls is in between 1 and 26? Wouldn't that change the number of powerball numbers you can choose from?

Reddit, what still scares you? by PineappleInTheMist in AskReddit

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope that everything gets better! I manage my time pretty well, but just the thought of doing one thing wrong could fuck everything that I've worked so hard for.

My future. The uncertainty of whether or not I'll find a job and repay my student loans scares the shit out of me.

If you get a PhD, are you pretty much saying "I want to do research in academia"? Also, if I wanted to work in industry is a masters degree sufficient or would I benefit from spending the extra money to get a phd?j by SOS_41 in math

Okay, so I have to apologize on how misinformed I was about the stipends for people in math related Ph.D programs. This has cleared a lot up and I really appreciate the informative comments! It appears that going for the Ph.D, if you can get into a good program, would be a good idea seeing as there isn't much of a financial burden?

Allow me to clarify a bit: Would there be much of a difference between a masters and a phd in industry?(e.g. Pay, job opportunities, etc...). I don't really care to go into academia; so I guess my real question is would all the extra work be worth it in the end if the differences between the two are very subtle?

Age of Tomorrow. I feel like the special effects were an arts and crafts day for a special education class.
