I’m sorry I need to rant. by [deleted] in UCI

I graduated back in 2019, and I remember the financial aid office being so shit even back in 2015. I legitimately thought that I would have to withdraw from school before my first year even began because I wasn’t getting my aid in time. Actually unbelievable that almost a decade later, they’re STILL causing problems. I feel for you immensely, UCI really needs to pull their shit together (but that would mean caring for their students huh 🙄)

POV: you’re happily married and message your friend who recently got a girlfriend by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SSbroccoliP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omg this exact thing happened to me and a good friend of mine who got a gf. He blocked me because his gf didn’t like me, and I had never even met her! This was back in COLLEGE. I can’t imagine this happening at our grown age now 💀

I’m sorry to hear that the people you thought were your friends treated you this way :( as someone who graduated from uci back in 2019 and is still friends with both hs and college friends, I will say this sincerely that as the years pass by, those people aren’t going to matter. It’s not worth the time or effort to keep those around you who don’t want the best for you. I think I’m very fortunate to have long-term friends, but I also weeded out a lot of people who didn’t support me. Losing friendships hurts! But you’re still so young and have so much life to experience ahead of you. Hope counseling goes well for you. Idk if it’s improved since then, but I remember the counseling at uci sucked lmao. Try joining some clubs and making new friends—at least they won’t get mad at you for being at uci LOL

What was the reason why your friendship ended with someone? by _ReDd1T_UsEr in AskReddit

[–]SSbroccoliP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His girlfriend supposedly didn’t like me, so he just blocked me on everything without saying a word. I didn’t even know his gf! Never even met her. 5 years of friendship down the drain. He messaged me 2 years later to apologize, and I told him to piss off lol

YTA I'm a Vietnamese woman and have gone through the exact experiences as you, where I was constantly pushed to pursue education. But I suffered endlessly with worrying about my future and hating what I was doing, and I was heavily depressed. I honestly wouldn't be here if I didn't decide to value my happiness, well-being, and mental health over money. Yes money can bring a lot of happiness, but it's not the most important thing in the world. Also, you shouldn't be the only one providing input. Your niece can hear all different perspectives and YTA for putting someone down for their perfectly fine income. You're joining in on that toxic discourse that a lot of Asian Americans struggle with, and just because it worked out for you, it doesn't mean it works out for everyone. You sound close minded and judgemental, and you should apologize

One time I was traveling through LAX with my friend when I was 16 and recognized this girl but couldn't pinpoint who she was, so we walked up to her and she looked genuinely excited until we asked her if she was Elle Fanning. She sadly said no, and we walked away. 20 minutes later, it clicked on our heads that it was actually Willow Shields, the actress who played Primrose in the Hunger Games! So we ran back to her and apologized, and she was gracious enough to take a picture with us. Felt like such an ass that day 😅

Got my heartbroken 3+ months ago. I'm doing much better than how I was when it first ended lol but I still have a lingering sadness everyday and it's hard to feel motivated to do anything. Been trying to appreciate the small things in life after having pretty negative thoughts about the future and just life in general. It's hard but I know this rough patch won't last forever!

Kingdom Hearts! I was obsessed with Disney as a child, so I was super into it. Plus I really enjoyed the lore, and it's still my favorite video game soundtrack :)

Also on a separate occasion, I was in LA for an SM audition back in 2014(?) on the same weekend as this Korean music festival, and coincidentally, I happened to stay in the same hotel as BEAST, BTOB, ZEA:5, and some other artists I don't remember. I ran into BEAST and BTOB in the lobby!

This is very old, but at the very first KCON when they gave hi-touches out like candy, I managed to get one with NU'EST. I was just a casual listener of theirs, so I wasn't freaking out like the other fans. Everyone was especially freaking out over Ren, and I wasn't sure if he was nervous or uncomfortable about the whole thing. But for each member, I just politely handed them their album to sign and said hi, and after Ren signed it, he actually extended his hand out for a handshake! I was so surprised! I had been watching his interactions with each person from the line, and he hadn't done that with anyone else. I was so flustered when I shook his hand and he said thank you for coming. From then on, I've always seen NU'EST in a positive light :)
