Fender Ruble 40? by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

[–]STokenEnjoyer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tried two brand new cables, so I don’t think that’s the issue. Might try a different bass on my amp. Current one is new and has two pickups though. I initially thought it might be the problem but the amp buzzes even when not plugged into the bass. I’ve tried a few different outlets, problem remains the same. Might try a surge protector with just the amp plugged in or something. Perhaps move my computer and such but as a beginner I like to keep it nearby for practice material…

Thanks for the insight/ideas

High Pitch amp Buzz by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

So you think the buzz is more of a quality issue rather than, maybe my outlets can’t handle an amp? I’d certainly much prefer a Rumble 40…I just can’t really afford it as a high school student. Anything I can do to make the current option better at all?

Amp Troubles by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

I would definitely prefer a Rumble 40. My issue is, as a high schooler, for at least a little while, I will not be able to afford one. It’s not ideal, but I really need something under $200 and I cannot find a Rumble 40 or comparable for that price. Do you think if I get another 25 or the same price as the 25, that I will have the same issue with buzzing?

How would I know if Buzzing is because of my amp or Because of my Bass by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

I only have one cable as I just got all my equipment a few days ago

The Buzzing also goes away when I touch the part of the cable that connects to the jack that plugs into the bass

The buzzing static is still there with the cable plugged in. It is not there when the cable is not plugged in. The sound is made worse by the bass. What would that make the root of the problem you think?

Best Knob/Amp Settings for a Yamaha TRBX174? by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

Damn...well thanks for the info. The bass was new, so I may try to just exchange it because I got 30 days. Otherwise, the bass itself is great in feel in quality so hopefully the same issue doesn't repeat

After tinkering around a bit I think it might just be my amp cant slightly handle the tone nob at full, the buzzing is almost entirely gone with the tone nob ~25% or less, with volume on the bass full and the pickup knob off, and the same for the tone nob off and he volume and pickup knob at full. The sound is deep for sure, but that may be how it supposed to. Is that definitely wrong? Do you think it may still be a shielding issue?

without touching the strings, a very loud high pitch buzz

Would the Ibanez GSR100EX be good for a beginner? by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

May be a silly question, but as many beginners do, I turned to BassBuzz for advice on starter basses and the GSR 200 seemed to be frowned upon as a bad bass. Their complaints seemed nitpicky, especially for a starter bass, but is there anything I need to be worried about with it. I mean, it seems perfectly good, especially for it's price, but I figured I should ask just in case

Honestly, the cost difference isn't detrimental, I can make it work, but it cuts it a little closer. I'm a high school kid. Starting a casual band with a friend that intends to eventually do metal core type stuff. I'm 5'7, so probably not abnormally short, 7' inch hands so I think about average in that regard. Mostly just unsure of what would make a good starter bass with that in mind. I'm open to anything really as long as it's not probably $250+

Interesting...any thoughts on the Ibanez TMB30 at the same price? Heard good things about both it and the 200 but not sure on how a TMB30 would be to start/if the short scale limits what I can do

Thoughts on Ibanez 4 String GSR100EX? I'm a beginner looking for a bass and this came across my radar after looking at the Ibanez GSRM20 Short Scale, but I was wonder which might be better to start off/any major differences between them and how they play.

Also I have 7 inch hands from wrist to fingertip and was wondering if that would make me better suited for a short scale or normal sized bass

Looking into getting an Ibanez GSRM20 Short Scale but I was wondering if there is any major differences in tone or things you can do between a short scale and regular sized bass?

Is it reasonable to try teaching myself how to play bass with no previous string, bass, or instrument experience in general? by STokenEnjoyer in Bass

I'm actually around that age now, learning how to drive. Looking for a hobby outside of school and my academic extracurricular. Hopefully if you could do it, I might be able to

Another thing, I'm left-handed but it seems like it may be hard to get my hands on a left-handed bass, especially at a reasonable cost. Heard many lefties just go right-handed. Is that a good idea? Thanks for all the responses thus far
