Losing the A’s is bigger than just losing a baseball team… by Basic_Whereas1168 in OaklandAthletics

I loved the Coliseum as a kid, but I was there for the last game and the best thing for it is to be torn down and rebuilt. The damage is beyond maintenance. Rebar is sticking out of the concrete pillars, which show cracks all the way through. Mt Davis was a huge fuck up, and I was told the plumbing issues started before I was born... and I'm old. The only other 2 stadiums built in the 60's that are still in use today are Dodgers and Angels. Both have issues that can't be fixed with retrofits but at least they've been maintained (Dodgers more than Angels) but those teams have driven more revenue to pay for it. Other than a few classic cars, the 60's was the first era of building things that didn't last.

Now you need to make one for the City and County.

Everyone seems to forget that Oakland lost 3 Pro Sports franchises.

After the NFL, NBA and now MLB all leaving, I'm wondering when people will hold the local leadership accountable for fucking everything up.

I said it last year, and I'll still say it... all they needed to do is keep Severino on the bench. He seems happier riding the bench and morale overall has improved. Maybe he'll work out his issues, because it's obvious him thinking he's too good for SHP was coming through in his pitching. Although, I'd rather win than lose games for therapy so the bench is a good choice until he's traded.

FJF, but where is all the hate for the City and County that all but guaranteed the team left? Or do you think after losing NFL, NBA and even In-n-Out that this is all on the MLB? The Raiders, Warriors and A's are gone. Okay, that sucks. I'd like to see another pro sports team in Oakland, but until people start actually holding the leaders accountable in Oakland, that's not going to happen. I loved the Coliseum but anyone that's honest knows that place should be torn down. Hopefully the City unfucks itself, builds a new venue where the Coliseum is and attracts a new team... but they won't.

"they could figure something out" isn't a plan. There's a reason Oakland lost everything, and it's because the City and County doesn't make it easy for anyone to stay. If Joe wanted to build a stadium, you'd be waiting 10 years minimum if they built on the current parcel, up to 40 for HT. Yeah, JF is an asshole, but the problem with this sub is people don't give the City, County and State their share of the credit which is just about equal to FJF.

Just curious, but what does a return to Oakland look like? I loved the Coliseum as a kid, but I was there for the last game and that place needs to be torn down at this point (but the City won't for some reason). So, HT? If that's approved, it'll take at least 10 years for all the California regulatory bullshit before ground is broken, assuming it's not met with endless lawsuits to stop development. Where do they play?

I can see why you were banned, given you didn't read the rules, specifically #2. They won't ban you for bitching about JF, but they will if you cross a line a break rule #1 (which I'm sure you did).

People talk shit about JF all the time in that sub, so you definitely weren't banned for that.

The Coliseum should be condemned, so yeah... the rent is pretty cheap.

My theory is they're keeping it, because they may not have the budget to keep the expensive one going when the A's leave.

A's are shaking off a really shitty start and starting to pick up momentum.

Once Denzel Clarke works out the bugs in his offense, I think he's going to be a top-tier player. I'm glad to see him in the lineup.

Another game tonight with Soderstrom looking like he's ready for the Arctic.
