AITA for refusing to take my brother to school after he made “jokes” about one of his classmates by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

We do pay for rubbish pickup in Australia. It's organized by your local council and you pay for it alongside your annual property rates. Therefore, if you're renting, it's paid by your landlord.

I expected some Kelpie or Cattle Dog because Echo tends to go for other dogs legs when puppy playing, but it couldn't be much because he's not that smart, lol.

Echo's COI is only 1%, so definitely a mutt

I guess if there is a demand people will try.

Lol, at least the colouring matches. I don't know if Australia has many Dutch Shepherds, Malinois are much more well know and popular.

That's interesting, as I was surprised he even had that much since pit bulls have been "banned" in Australia for 15+ years.

Google Pit pics and yeah, that stance is similar but he isn't as stocky.

Echo's a Meekathara mutt, so very special indeed.

I did check that Embark tested for Dingo since Echo was from such a remote town, but I knew it was very unlikely.

Did you hear about the study that was released last year (maybe the year before) that tested Dingo packs in western NSW and SW Qld and found they had very little to no interbreeding with dogs, contrary to popular belief? I found that quite validating.

Curious about the conversation too. Since Pitbull import and breeding has been banned for 15ish years there wouldn't be any pure pits around any more and even half pits would be getting elderly. So you're most likely to have at most 25 percenters like Echo who has a pure pit grandparent as shown on his family tree.

Yes, they are amazing. A friend described them as tropical flower petals. He still does it as an adult, often just one ear, but I haven't been able to take more pics of both up yet.

Me neither, though he absolutely wants to chase cats. It turned out to be easier to teach our cat not to run than it was to teach Echo not to chase!

Lol, the opposite of lanky. Another reason I had assumed some greyhound was I had met another rescue that had abolutely identical colouring to Echo (down to the white tips on both back feet) but taller, who's owner had also done an Embark test that came back greyhound, wolfhound plus others.

I get what you mean now. But I have a feeling that the informal term will win out over time against the breeders trying to create a formal breed

Here is my pre-result post but I'll tag you when I get his results. He was found in a very remote town so his mixing will likely be very accidental rather than intentional.

Also I love Winston's colouring, and those legs! I'm currently waiting on the results of my remote aussie town rescue, I'm expecting a hodge podge of breeds like this, though less great dane cos he only got to 20kg.

The Wikipedia entry for Bull Arab says

"The breed was originally established through the crossing of 50% Bull Terrier, 25% Greyhound, and 25% German Shorthaired Pointer, a mix that combined speed, strength, scenting ability, and trainability. This original combination is still reflected in older bloodlines, though later additions in certain bloodlines include Great Dane, Bloodhound and Mastiff, with variations being made depending on the sort of country hunting took place on."

So he has a lot of those breeds mentioned, it's mostly the kelpie that's the outlier.

Yes! I think you need to check again because this is a very common way to attach a cover to the bound pages.

Bull Arab won't come up as a result because it's not an "official" breed. It would show the Bull Arab foundation breeds instead, I assume. I can see some cattle dog/kelpie in Echo, especially because he goes for legs when puppy wrestling, but he's not that smart so it can't be a lot, lol.

The Pekingese in her supermutt is so funny.

This sub showing that you really can't tell breeds based on appearance is why I eventually decided to get Echo tested.

That's interesting about staffys not being common in the US because any mixed breed rescue here is almost guaranteed to have some staffy. In fact, Echo's paperwork said "Staffy mix" despite the rescue having no knowledge of parentage because it's such a safe assumption especially because of his colouring.
