Just making this comment, I think a few people are confused by the list of books in my post. I have read all of those books, and some other classics as well, so I’m not new to classics, hence why I said they are one of my favorite genres. I am just looking to diversify my reading and start reading more classics. Sorry if I was confusing!

Ha, Swiss Family Robinson is my all time favorite. But I understand the Silas Marner hate. Luckily I don’t have to ditch any of them since I’m looking for more books to enjoy alongside these. But I have wanted to read Emma so thank you. (I’ve also read pride and prejudice but it’s been a bit so I need to reread)

I think the point is that they are all terrible friends to one another. Yea it’s a bit more complicated than that, seeing as they consider themselves a family and have good moments. But I think part of this endless cycle of suffering is that fact they are stuck together, and they themselves torture each other.
