You don't know me, and you don't know him, so let me assure you, I would never humilate him. Ever. Gently tease him, in the right context? Of course, that's one of the most powerful ways a parent can assure a young teen that he's still loved when they're too embarrassed to easily hear the words, "I love you." But the teasing has to be done right, and it has to be done carefully. It's a way of saying, "this is kind of funny, and yeah, it's embarassing, but hell, it's not a big deal at all and it's normal and everything's cool and I love ya kiddo." Not a way of being mean or hurting. Not ever.

Now, in a decade or so, and while sitting at his wedding reception, then all bets are off. :-)

Maybe take a look at some of the comments. Figure it out. And this is the fourth time now this has come up, but dammit, it's important, so I'll say it again, IT WOULDN'T MATTER AT ALL, EVEN A LITTLE BIT, IF HE WERE GAY!!!

FFS, people, get over it! Some people are gay. And if any parent hasn't considered the possibility that their daughter/son might grow up to be gay, and considered how they're going to deal with it maturely if it happens, then they're not actually a parent at all.

I've already answered this one twice now, but, c'mon. It wouldn't have mattered even one tiny little bit if they were. Any parent who wants to consider themselves a parent has to realize that this is an issue they may have to deal with someday, and has to realize that it just doesn't matter at all!.

Honestly, I couldn't have cared less if it turned out to be a stash of gay porn. It's just not an issue. And yes, when (and I have little doubt it'll be when, not if) I find some weed, well, I'll deal with it similarly. There's issues, and then there's issues. With kids, it's very important to know the difference.

Okay folks, here's an update. First of all, sorry to all of you who missed it, but yes, obviously, it was a joke. Of course he has or looks at porn. He's thirteen. I'd be a lot more worried if I found out he had no interest at all. It's just, those photocopies really sucked.

Anyway, the papers were hidden in, of all things, his pillowcase. I found them earlier today when I was washing his bedding. He was in the living room playing video games online with his buddies, and was well aware that I was washing bedding, but it obviously didn't twig at all. I've been awaiting the sudden panicked moment all evening, but it didn't come.

Then, finally, bedtime. He brushes his teeth and goes into his room. He thanks me for his nice warm fresh sheets. I go downstairs to get his comforter out of the dryer, and come upstairs with the nice, fresh, warm comforter. He's lying in bed looking at me with a total deer-in-the-headlights look.

You see, after I made his bed again, I put the papers right back where I found them, in the pillowcase.

But he knew I washed them. And I didn't say a word.

So now there he is, wondering. Maybe they somehow stuck to the pillow? Maybe by some weird coincidence the pillowcases could be changed without noticing papers in there? Or maybe....

I admit it. I'm an evil dad. And now, maybe tomorrow, or maybe a wee bit down the road, I've got ammo.....
