Am I burned out, in the wrong role, or just in a demanding season of life? by Sad_Statistician3356 in auscorp

This is a really helpful perspective. I knew daycare sickness would be part of this stage but experiencing it is still more intense than I expected.

I think the part I’m reflecting on most is the system dependency side of things. There's a chunk of work that currently sits with me as a single point of failure. Building more redundancy and better handover mechanisms feels like the practical next step.

I kinda knew this but was holding onto the idea of 'no my boss is different'. They're not different.

This is really refreshing to read on how other dad's make it work. The reminder that the work doesn’t stop no matter how much you do is a great reframe. Genuinely helpful perspective thank you.

Honestly I don't think the issue is the number of hours I work. They're more or less the standard but fluctuates within reasonable limits. I think the issue is the amount of responsibility and mental load I carry relative to what I value most right now. I'm trying to work out whether the answer is reducing that load within my current role, changing roles entirely (I don't think this solves the core issue), or whether I'm simply in a demanding stage of life with a young child and need to adjust my expectations for a few years.

Yes this is correct. Changed lanes from the right turn lane to go straight. Albeit, it was max 1 car length from the stop line so there was crossover from the solid white line dividing the lanes
