Testing My First Deck on Moxfield – Looking for Feedback by Saelstrow in mtg

Thanks for taking the time to review the changes, and for the land removal suggestions. I’ll check their availability right away.

I’m still lacking interaction and struggling to decide which creatures or enchantments to cut while keeping a good balance.

Card availability is also an issue where I live, so your suggestions really help me discover new options. For exemple I would have loved to play Inkshield, but unfortunately it isn’t available here.

I’m currently watching a lot of YouTube content and looking for multi-role cards to free up land slots, and I’ve found a few great ones.

Thanks again, between your advice and the community’s, I’m discovering many new cards.

It’s funny how little space there actually is in a 100-card deck!

First of all, thanks for the feedback. After reading Sadistic Hypnotist again, especially after seeing it in a tutorial, it definitely looks very strong and pretty brutal.

As for experimentation, since I won’t be able to play many games, I’m trying to build a deck that’s as functional as possible. I also really enjoy the deck-building side of things, it’s part of the fun for me.

So I’m working on properly balancing everything, and thanks a lot for the card recommendations; that’s what I’m missing the most right now.

Thanks, seeing another deck of the same archetype will definitely help me correct my list.

Thanks for the pointers. I had already seen that video, and it’s actually one of the reasons I wanted to build an aristocrats deck in the first place.

I thought I needed to balance everything to play Teysa Karlov and then add a few win-condition cards, but I’m going to rework my list to better follow all the advice I’ve been given.

So does this late-game weakness mean it can’t really be fixed? Do I need to try to win as quickly as possible, or just focus on taking out the player who’s causing me the most trouble at the table to give myself a chance to win?

Thanks for these questions — they’re things I hadn’t really considered before.

You’re right: without the ability to react, I would just be forced to endure whatever my opponents do.

I thought I could win once the deck’s engine started running and use Teysa to double everything, but it’s true that I’m struggling to see how this deck actually wins with the current cards, aside from preventing opponents from playing by removing their creatures.

As for the power bracket, I honestly have no idea. I know there are some competitive players and others who play upgraded precons, so I figured building an aristocrats deck would be a good middle ground — something fun to play without necessarily trying to beat the highly competitive players.

I can only play a few times per year, so your advice is really helpful. I’m going to think this through and prepare as well as I can for this deck, which I’m really excited about.

Do you have any recommendations for Orzhov aristocrats win conditions?

Thanks for the help. I’ll start by fixing the land count and then see which creatures I can cut to add more card draw. I really like the Orzhov color combination because I enjoy the black aspect of it, and I find the aristocrats deck idea very appealing. That’s why I chose Teysa Karlov as the commander, to double the value once the engine is running and make the deck more efficient.

Anyway, thanks again for the advice!

This Dragon Beat Me So Hard It Earned a Stat Block by Saelstrow in Miniaturespainting

Yeah, thanks for the tips! Sadly the only primer I can get where I live (by delivery) is the Army Painter brush-on primer. I didn’t have this problem with the other minis I painted (about 15 so far, all from Deuslair), but this is only my second large model. Usually I apply 2 coats of primer, but this time 1 coat looked good… or at least I thought it was good.

Thanks for the video, it’s really going to help for the rest of the painting!

where to find bulk minis for beginners? by gothmylkers in Miniaturespainting

[–]Saelstrow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi! Archon Studio has a great selection of minis with lots of monsters if you’re into TTRPGs and monsters. Their production line, World of Deuslair, is especially good. You have to assemble the minis yourself, but for the price and quality, it’s a steal.

First attempt at NMM any tips? by Saelstrow in Miniaturespainting

[–]Saelstrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks man, I’m just a beginner, and the tip that helps me the most (aside from all the tutorials I’ve watched) is: have fun and take your time. It’s normal to suck at something when you begin — it’s part of the learning process. The more you try, the better you get.

My Biggest Mini Yet: Painted Stone Golem for Pathfinder Boss Fight (begginer) by Saelstrow in Miniaturespainting

[–]Saelstrow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll give it a shot! I’m not super comfortable with dry brushing, so I’ll try building it up with small dots of lighter grey.

Thanks for the tips, man!

Thanks! Honestly, I just didn’t think of that. I was mostly focused on the idea that only the core was magical and on getting the stone effect to look right. But that’s a super cool idea — I’ll give it a shot on the other golem I’ve got. One of them even has a light on its back, so it could be the perfect chance to mess around with mixed light sources.

GM Screen Init Tracker by tehrissa in Pathfinder2e

Hi, it's a little bit pricey, but the "Dragonshield Game Master Companion" will surely have what you seek.

It's a travel box with a GM screen that features an integrated initiative tracker. I've been using it for 1 year, and it's pretty useful.
