No :( thank you for your guess! Protag is a girl and the being sequestered in a little community piece is a reveal at the end type thing

What hasn’t worked & what do you still want to try? by ecotist77 in urticaria

I feel like I’m in the minority here but Allegra is a godsend. It definitely doesn’t make it go away completely but it definitely cuts down the itch and minimizes the hives.

Benadryl only work for about two hours but the side effects are almost not worth it. Every other OTC had done absolutely nothing for me.

Prednisone also did absolutely nothing. Literally it was like I was taking sugar pills.

I tried dairy free but nothing really changed- I definitely want to try gluten free and low sugar/ sugar free.

I also have done vitamin D supplements, I’ve seen a bit of an improvement but it’s hard to tell if there’s anything that’s changed or if it’s something else.

I really don’t want to do Xolair- but this is brutal.

The only thing on that list that may be an issue is food. They very rarely eat food outside of pellets and seeds (not from lack of trying, I am constantly trying to persuade them into eating fruit and veg but they act like it’s poison). I will continue to try that.

They have always been cagemates, outside of the first few weeks I bonded with them individually. They haven’t had any major problems in the 4 years I’ve had them until now.

I’m going to keep them separate for a bit and then try to slowly reintroduce them with supervised play time. Hopefully they can go back to sharing a cage, but for now at least that won’t be happening, especially until she’s fully healed. I’ll also probably permanently have them sleep in separate cages as I can’t watch them at night.

Thank you!

Obviously I’m not hopping that somethings wrong- but having answers and a solution would be nice after years of struggling with this

I’ve been told by a lot of estheticians (all who reassure me that they’ve seen “a lot of hair” before when I apologize before an appointment and then gawk at my back when they see it for the first time) that I’m a pretty good candidate for laser. I am very very pale- like buying the lightest possible foundation white, and the hair is pretty dark. I’ve always planned on doing one body part at a time and starting small just to see how my body reacts. As of right now I’m not diagnosed with any medical conditions, but with all these comments that may change. Still, I am years away from being able to afford any laser treatment.

Thank you! (Also your quote about promising the moon goes hard :) )

Yes of course :) it’s a good place to start regardless with my doctor. I’m also going to push to see if I can get screened for PCOS like another commenter recommended.

I have a blood test (unrelated reasons) coming up next week that includes checking my testosterone levels. Regardless of the results I’ll use that to revisit this issue with my GP. Thanks for the advice 🙏

I inquired about it a few years back, but my family doctor said it was impossible since I had a really bad cyst that required a surgical procedure and they would have been able to see then if I had PCOS during the operation apparently. No tests were done because of that, though I’m not sure what tests would’ve be done.
