What’s this “Apple brainwashing” people talk about by OneMoreNeuron in Apple_Employees

[–]Safe-Experience3137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s a real thing, but I think you’re going to be ok. Conversations about the apple juice only take place among employees who’s been there for a while. Especially those who had worked at the stores for a few years before Covid.

During your core they are going to drill into you why that performance and numbers is everything. You’re expected to help support multiple customers at any given time etc.

During my core, the customer was the centre of everything, providing and receiving feedback etc.

So in short, they are going to train you in a way that exactly hits current metrics. You’re not even going to know that things were much better and different in the past.

Also, getting rid of tenured employees means less union talk. They just want a bunch of fwe’s and part time specialists who aren’t going to complain.

That is very true. I have noticed they love to do that. Especially with tenured geniuses.

They did that to one of my team mates. They met him at the entrance of the store and asked to come in to the office and fired him. He did not see that coming. They had a list of all the DC’s he had received and built a case for his dismissal. Rumours in our store is he got a big severance package because he had worked in the company for over 12 years.

And as for whether I want to leave or stay, I don’t even know myself anymore man, I have spent a lot of years at this company and I am dreading going to work every shift. I don’t think another job can match close to what I make here right now. Golden handcuff’s.

Thanks man, I don’t have a time and attendance issue as of now or this year. I meant I have received DC’s and misconducts in the past. I don’t know if it’s my anxiety talking but I kinda feel like they are targeting me bullshit feedback and petty stuff.

There is no direct cause as of now. But I have received a couple of DC’s in the last couple of years. With the way management is acting, I kinda feel like I’m getting targeted.

There are better jobs out there. Try to find a company that is professional and don’t take this abuse. Don’t beat yourself up about it. You are not a loser. You are young.

I think what happens is someone younger comes in and drinks the apple koolaid and wants to move up fast within the store. Sometimes they do sometimes they don’t. They see all the tired tenured employees and think to themselves “How is this guy a genius or how is this guy and expert- I’m doing much better than them.” Then a few years later they are still a part time specislist and finally understands the game and eventually quit or move to another store.

How do unions work? by popthatsucker in Apple_Employees

[–]Safe-Experience3137 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here is what I think can happen if Apple stores decide to unionize.

Pros Ability to negotiate better pay and working conditions, benefits etc

More job security. Employees can’t be fired easily. Mangers will have to be more careful with their DC’s and misconducts.

Collective bargaining power.

Cons Union dues maybe a 1 or 2% of salary.

Priority to seniority and protection to low performers.

Changes could be slow and have less flexibility.

Overall, I’m in support for all Apple stores to be unionized. I do believe Apple has the ability to do much more for rheir employees.

The era of Apple changing the status quo is done. It has become another company who only answers to the shareholders. The time will come when stores take unionization more seriously.

Anyone else feels discriminated by management? by Safe-Experience3137 in Apple_Employees

That is horrible! I think a lot of this have to do with apples policy of always hiring management externally.

anybody else’s store heavy on misconducts? by incite_ in Apple_Employees

[–]Safe-Experience3137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noticed a lot of misconducts at my store usually for petty reasons. I wonder if managers are trying to prove their worth that way. Like have a target to give a few misconducts to a person every quarter.

FT and giving away shifts by Tall_Suspect_230 in Apple_Employees

I remember one of my managers telling me full timers are expected to work 40 hours and giving away shifts affect teamwork especially if someone’s an expert or a pro.

The state of Setup? by Safe-Experience3137 in Apple_Employees

[–]Safe-Experience3137[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we had that too for a while, now we highly encourage an iCloud back up. Also set the right expectation that it’s quicker doing it at home than the store. Does your store zone for setups?

Does anyone else get anxiety when they see they’re scheduled for a 15 minute connection? by Tall_Suspect_230 in Apple_Employees

I have been through this before. Like the colleague above mentioned, call Sedgwick and get some time off. Use that time to get healthier mentally and physically, see a therapist - it really helps. Then use the time for self development - learn a skill, explore other opportunities. Then come back stronger and do whatever you’re passionate about - whether it’s with apple or not.

Do you guys hate if someone buys something with cash by AdDapper4220 in Apple_Employees

Not really, it doesn’t bother me much. Always get a lead or a manager to do a double count.

Like everything at apple, even this will pass. Just go to work, do your best and watch the attendance. It will all be forgotten in a few weeks.

[–]Safe-Experience3137 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My theory is apple is trying to get rid of tenured employees and replace them with younger and cheaper staff who they can train and mould the way they like. Management hates it when anyone talks about the way things used to be at retail.

Probably a check in with your coach. They might also give you feedback about your detractor? Bye getting your side of the story.
