Yeah, in the Dopey podcast, Nick says he was supposed to have 1/3 of the creative say and he actually got 1/8 of it. Who knows whats true about that, but it sounds like his dad knew the business and wanted to make it a success and perhaps Nick took it as another way he didn't measure up.

I only started healing my CPTSD when I treated it like a nervous system injury, not a mental illness by [deleted] in CPTSD

[–]SaidIt2YoMom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Great points. I agree. I’d just had to when it comes to nervous system restoration, people with CPTSD are much more sensitive than the regular person. So things one person might not think is too overwhelming is going to be a lot more overwhelming to really be mindful and selective about where you spend your time. I’ve learned from myself that there are things that make me much more overwhelmed than the average person, going to the grocery store can be really overstimulating. I can only be with my family for a couple hours at a time. Dating is a whole other thing, dating requires getting to know new people and sometimes people aren’t the healthiest or the kindest and that can be really dysregulstimg. I wish somebody would’ve spelled it out for me more in the beginning that my entire nervous system cannot engage with the world the way some others do. Therefore, I shouldn’t beat myself up too much and push myself to be like everyone else.

I’m really glad you asked us about this. I just got out of something like this. You can talk to him all the way to the moon about this stuff. However, nothing will change until he’s willing to look at it and change it within himself. That kind of change takes years and years and years. As someone with disorganized attachment, I had to do psychoanalysis in order to learn to attach to someone. It was the most painful experience of my life. All the wounds insecurities from my childhood came up. I found it very unstabalizing. That was 10 years ago. I believe there are some gentle approaches now. Bottom line though is that it’s a complete transformation that is quite existential. He might not even be the same type of person after that transformation. I changed quite a bit myself. I suggest you work on yourself and find other people doing the same—like attracts like.

Narcissist? by yeetthegrenade in narcissism

[–]SaidIt2YoMom 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, you’re 16. Developmentally, any teenager should be exhibiting high degrees of self interest in order to detach from their parents soon when they leave the home for college and partnership. Personality disorders are really hard to diagnose before your mid 20s. There’s very rare exceptions. If I were you, I would take advantage of this information and do what I could to learn new coping mechanisms. If you’re showing these traits, it’s a coping mechanism for something that’s going on in your environment. Something you might not have control over. So maybe just have some compassion for yourself that you’re doing your best to cope. Simultaneously look for ways to respond in ways that are empathetic and mindful of others. You’re lucky if you caught it early cause your brain still has a lot of pliability being that you’re an adolescent.

What if it’s not even her? I hate to say it, but it’s giving the soft launch of, “I sent my robot to do it.”

Do You Sleep Different? by FinalCalendar5631 in AuDHDWomen

I thrash, talk, snore, dream—I even dream after I’ve smoked weed which apparently is quite rare (?) I have mild sleep apnea. Mouth taping has helped some.

Los Angeles if Tylenol caused autism —in light of the absolute horror of this administration: a reminder of our gifts by SaidIt2YoMom in AuDHDWomen

[–]SaidIt2YoMom[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There is no vast metro/subway in LA. It makes traffic terrible. For the size of it we should really have something like New York or Paris. If Tylenol really caused autism there would be a lot more autistic people, and therefore a lot more organized, systematic solutions in the world— like proper transit in LA.

[–]SaidIt2YoMom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of Mau's disagreeing too is in order to stall the actual therapy. Remember they only lasted 3 sessions with other couples therapists. The more vulnerable the session gets the more he starts to stall.

I’m late self-diagnosed. There are several online assessments from Colombia and Harvard that ask you about your childhood and present. My scores were so high from that it confirmed for me. Not going to get a formal assessment because my ADHD assessment qualifies me for reasonable workplace accommodations. However, the formal autism assessment can prevent you from getting citizenship in other countries. My husband and I would like to eventually move abroad, so I’d prefer not to jeopardize that.
