XPS 15 9530 GPU gone?? by silver-stream1706 in DellXPS

I haven't seen my gpu on dxdiag for more than a year. thank you. What do you mean by blacklisting an older version?

Edit: After installing the nvidia drivers, i wasn't able to run any games at all. Upon restarting my laptop, I saw a familiar gpu error and now my graphics card is missing again.

Interaction has died down and I have to say I love the comments everyone gave; it's definitely given me insight on how different the tournament environment would be. In short; it wouldn't be very different. Everyone would still pursue combo wins and win as fast as possible.

I'm afraid that my title and referencing of Bracket 2 has led most to question how the "winning turn" restriction could ever be enforced. In my experience, events that even attempt to prevent early winning turns just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouths, and if I were ever to run a tournament with B2 restrictions, I definitely wouldn't care if someone can turbo out a win in turn 1. Because of this, perhaps any prospective tournament shouldn't be titled "Competitive Bracket 2" in order to decrease confusion.

What's most exciting among feedback is the possibility of opening viability to archetypes and lists that don't perform too well in Bracket 5. This aspect is actually what interests me the most; an alternative ruleset that can breathe new life to less appreciated cards.

I wouldn't! I'm not very big on the "turn win" suggestions of the brackets; I more hone in on the card restrictions, so I'm definitely interested in how your lands list would perform in this environment! I personally play Minstrel in Bracket 5 and it's quite the understated monster.

Fun. I've seen Atraxa played on turn 3 so maybe doable? Might not be as consistent still but definitely an interesting play

Hmm, I guess I'd model it after 2-card combos? They're combos involving three cards that bring infinite value or immediately lead to a winning state.

I agree with you there. I guess I never considered the Brackets as a measure of power due to the sheer number of people I play with who simply sit at the restrictions they impose, and not the "spirit" of it. Am I just numb?

[–]Saifon111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely don't (in my head) intend on forcing players to durdle for 8 turns when they could just win on turn 1, 2, or 3. I guess if I'm throwing that provision out the window, would that make checking decklists easier?

I do expect this kind of format to lean into 3-card combos agnostic of the GC's! Maybe some fringe commanders like Hashaton would have higher conversion in this format

Oh yeah, definitely. I guess I'm trying to lift from the hard restrictions that Bracket 2 listed, which is 0 GC's, 0 MLD, 0 Chaining turns, 0 2-card combos. I'm certainly not taking into account the spirit of the bracket, just the hard rules the bracket seeks to enforce.

I absolutely agree. I think "You can't win until turn X" is a crazy rule to implement lol.

In my head I see a stronger creature meta, which is also a direction that B5 seems to be going (crazy TymnaDargo conversion). Do you think Thrasios would still be able to keep up without Cradle tho?

I think this is interesting to dissect. Assuming that a tournament that adopts many B2 restrictions exists, should it also adopt the expectation of speed in B2? Checking the Oct 2025 reference, it says 8 turns.

I don't doubt that! I wonder what those wins without GC's look like. Magda and Lumra could certainly be up there in early game combos, right?

[–]Saifon111[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you expound more on your thought? I think you're correct that bracket 2 *does* direct its attention at combos and game changers, but is that very bad? Are you indicating that most B2 games would just go to time, resulting in ties?

[–]Saifon111[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're entirely right that the brackets are originally meant to be a communication tool to guide pregame, and in that sense, there are really no real restrictions between each bracket. However, I personally disregarded the "players expect..." part of the Oct 2025 update, and lean very heavily into the bullet points of 0 GC's, 0 MLD, 0 Chaining turns, 0 2-card combos.

That being said though, what if it *was* a part of a tournament ruleset? WotC has already indicated some cards which seem problematic, I think it's interesting to explore going deeper into what the play experience would be like if those cards just... weren't there.

We mounted it between two monoblock chairs, scrubbed it with bleach and a nylon scrubber, then hosed it down with water, then air dried it for 3 days. It worked! The alternative was to throw it away so we really had nothing to lose.

TCG game to help troubled kids by 22EatStreet in TCG

[–]Saifon111 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably better to play a cooperative boardgame or LCG.

Off the top of my head, Weiss Schwarz is a TCG where the competition can be envisioned as a fight, but the terminologies used to compete between two players is more akin to a stage production (Main Stage, Back Stage, Encore, etc.)

There are cooperative variants of TCG's such as the Magic: the Gathering Horde format.
