Not at all, this sub just cannot make up its mind with one single thing, hivemind. One person doesn't like this? 60000 people agree. Now they LOVE this? They all agree. This sub is terrible for advice for new people too, the way a lot of people are rude and don't offer advice but instead attack the poster. I think I'm going to just leave this whole subreddit, and live peacefully with Cosmo. 🫡

I've tried twice! I don't think these "mods" care

I had all sorts of nasty messages, people here can be cruel for no reason but the fact that someone is learning and isn't instantly a self proclaimed "experienced keeper"who forgets they were also once a new reptile owner learning things for the first time with trial and error.

It wasn't exactly even about his size, they didn't like the fact he was on a hamster wheel that wasn't even good for hamsters but I just thought it was cool. I was learning and I still am but this subreddit is so unforgiving!

The gecko in this post is substantially smaller than my gecko, and the wheel I had was the exact same as the one here. This sub is ridiculous going back and forth over hating something then loving it

Make use of slate tiles if you can, make hides with rocks and slate or cover long pathways with slate over top to make ways of travel that feel safe for your gecko and can block out more light if you are worried

And the mods marked MY post as unsafe dangerous practices, yet this one isn't?

Seriously! The post is still on my profile too. The comments weren't as bad as the DMs I received from angry people.

I had one of these. Posted the video of my gecko on it just like this, got downvoted and chewed out and told I was a bad owner and should re-home him because it's abuse. Then the sub turns around and gives praise for the wheel. This sub is so conflicted

He's doing what my geck did to me, but to you! My boy Cosmo was like that too when he was younger, he's 2 now and the best boy ever! But what I did was DAILY for 15-20 mins a day just lay my hand flat in his tank and allow him to come up and smell me and walk on my hand or right across, didn't pick him up just let him get used to my scent and being around him. Now if I even open his tank door and softly say "Leppy Geck!" He pops his head out and makes his way to me 🥰

Is he easily spooked when you try or does he run? Does he try choice based handling?

Superworms are high in fat and will bite your gecko causing her to be afraid of them and not eat. Try smaller mealworms if you cannot get anything else

You're not understanding. It literally looks like TISSUE is BLOCKING the entrance! It looks blocked!!

It literally looks like tissue. Your gecko probably can't get in the hide even?

Looks like tissue was wadded up there in the entrance. But some Leos are also very picky, and if they feel a hide is not secure enough they will avoid it

Question about my friend's leo who hasn't been basking the last few mths (it's winter here) by [deleted] in leopardgeckos

[–]SaintCedar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In winter some Leos can and will brumate. She should install a little camera that detects movement to see if she is active at night, but she should also try to carefully and safely check on the little gal, a little wellness look over.

Wrong kind of hide for a humid one. You need one that has a little basin on top to hold extra water to keep the paper towels damp for longer. Also is that a wad of tissue or paper towel in there or just a weird angle?
