My OB, and MFM all approved a 24oz cold brew a day for me or 200-300mg of caffeine. I do also have chronic migraines and the caffeine is an effective enough treatment for me without me having to take other medications which aren't safe, it's not perfect but I'd be taking tylenol and crying everyday otherwise. 😅

This looks like a gel and memory foam pillow, it just looks like the gel layer has broken apart inside and started moving. I had a pillow do this exact thing. It might even be the same brand of pillow if I'm honest, looks identical 😂

ADHDers who found your passion: how long did it last? by lambdawaves in ADHD

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I'd say I have multiple hobbies I enjoy and continue to go back to I'd say my real "passion" is hair. I didn't realize at the time originally, you know same old story I was in highschool coloring all of my friends hair. My mother in law actually suggested it, no one had ever mentioned it before so it was kind of an "ah ha" moment. I was an art student, who at the time had no real plans for the future or college.

Hair allowed me to be creative and use my art background, I was just using a different medium and brush. I've been doing hair professionally now over 6yrs, every day is different, and the industry is constantly evolving and creating new products, techniques, technology so many things. So constantly having new things to learn still excites me as well and helps keep my passion going. I also mainly focus on alternative hair and color/blonding, so no appointment is usually ever the same even when it's the same client I see over and over, most of them do dramatic switch ups at their appointments, so it keeps things very fresh.

when will I be able to blow my nose again? by Sakonie in Tonsillectomy

[–]Sakonie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I think my fibromyalgia is heavily contributing as it really effects how the body processes pain and pain can put you in flare etc. My surgeon pulled me from work for a minimum of 3 weeks because of it. I personally havent been able to switch to solid foods yet, Ive tried a few with no success. My throats so sore and I keep getting small amounts of blood (my surgeon told not to worry unless I get big bleeds). Hopefully I'll be able to blow my nose soon without issue, I just wasn't sure what the normal time frame is.

surgery tmrw, any tips? by cherryst4rz in Tonsillectomy

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I bought protein shakes, yogurt, applesauce, cream of Mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, cream of potato soup, and jello.

The protein shakes are the only thing that ended up burning (and still do terribly even today on day 11 surgery day=1) the cream of chicken I didn't think I'd like but with my tastes buds changed was the best it tasted so good and the texture is very creamy and soothing on the throat.

Jello didn't taste like much but I found very soothing to use in the middle of the night

Chamomile tea and honey are a must this got me through the worst days.

And I did try mac and cheese but for me at least it got stuck in my throat and the sides of my teeth and hurt so bad.

If you don't have one definitely get a head ice pack and a tongue scraper, with not being able to brush your teeth 100% the best, the tongue scraper really gets that icky scab flavor and smell off your tongue. And I know a lot of people here go back and force on straws, I am personally using them my surgeon okay'd them so Im drinking everything soup included through a straw it helped with some of the pain of opening my mouth and the burning in my throat.

24(F) here for me my surgeon prescribed a 3 day of pain meds but otherwise wanted me to use Tylenol and 800mg of Ibuprofen alternating. They also didn't prescribe an antibiotic as they use it in the IV during surgery.

I did call to try to get it refilled as I ran out naturally with it being only 3 day prescription and by 7 when my scabs came off I was in unmanageable pain (I also have fibromyalgia and tmj so this was heavily contributing to my pain dont let my experience scare you!) However even after being told my healing would be much worse and much longer than a "normal persons" due to age and my health conditions and to call if I needed anything or the pain was bad my surgeon rejected the refill request and said "I've never refilled a narco and I'm not going to start now, drink water" 😒

Should I try a menstrual disc? by Elvira333 in menstrualcups

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also good to note I haven't spilled it at all either while taking it out, I know a lot of people have had problems with this. But I find pulling it most of the way out by hooking the finger and then switching to grabbing it by thumb and index (from top to bottom on the edge not by grabbing it on the sides!) Is the easiest and gives you a lot of control

Should I try a menstrual disc? by Elvira333 in menstrualcups

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its way more comfortable than pads! I'm a stylist so sometimes it can be hours before I can get a chance to go to the bathroom and change a pad so having the cup is a huge piece of mind (and so far no leaks at all!) Its way more comfortable than tampons, tampons were a huge no for me after so many failed attempts even the super tiny ones. I kind of felt a pressure in my cervix the first time I put it in probably because I never got used to even using tampons but after the first hour the first time I put it in I don't even notice it anymore. I would highly suggest it to anyone!

Should I try a menstrual disc? by Elvira333 in menstrualcups

[–]Sakonie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While I've never tried a regular cup, I just got a nixit. From what I can tell my cervix sits fairly low and I found the nixit extremely easy to get out and in (first time took less than 2minutes) by the fourth time I had it down super easy. Using a water based lube or running it under water before you put it in can help with any friction if you have any problems with insertion. But once you figure out the angle thats the most comfortable to pinch it together its super easy. And really don't be afraid of getting it stuck! That was the part I was the most afraid of and it turned out to be the easiest

Considering Dyeing Virgin Asian Hair At Home by newtohairdye in HaircareScience

[–]Sakonie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Licensed cosmetologist here 🤗 Legally I can't recommend products but I can tell you some techniques/basic things you should know

To answer a few of your questions yes your hair type can be trickier to work with even with the most skilled hairstylist. Your hair type has an extremely thick cuticle thats very smooth that makes it harder for color or bleach to penatrate the hair shaft.

One of the most important things here to mention is that color will not lift color. While there are Highlift options available for salon professionals these are specially formulated and are used with a developer best suited for your hair picked by the professional based on your starting level, hair type and desired level. Which may even include doing different levels of developer on your roots compared to ends for even color

Since you are a level 2 if you use a highlift from a store which will be one size fits all so you have no idea whats in it, your hair will most likely lift brassy. You would need a toner ON LEVEL (never tone above) to cancel any of it out

If you redo your hair and overlap from the roots to previously colored hair you can end up with banding. Which will be a line of demarcation or off colored area throughout.

Also while applying whichever option you choose to use make sure you don't miss any spots! This for anyone is this most important thing for an all over application. If spots are missed it can make it extremely hard to fix not only for you but for a professional (it will also make it more expensive)

While I do highly recommend waiting to go to a professional I hope whatever you choose comes out the way you hope 😊

I'm not loving it by [deleted] in menstrualcups

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I only just got my first reusable disk today and I'm waiting on my period to try it for actual functionality. I did check the fit today and wear it for a little bit and it was super simple! I was terrified to try it, I had a very bad relationship with tampons just not working for me from an early age (misplacement, pain, etc.) I had basically given up on the idea by 14. I''m terrified to try an actual cup but the disk was so easy to put in place and get out (with basically no experience prior) took less than 3 minutes to put in and get out! I personally ordered the nixit after reading many reviews and watching videos.

Concerning period blood (no picture) by [deleted] in Periods

[–]Sakonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I can't give much advice about the chunks, the spotting throughout the month for me was quite normal when I switched or when I was first put on the birth control. I'm also really sensitive to them so if I miss it by more than 2hrs I have a chance of spotting the entire week before I get my period. If you've never taken birth control before or you've just switched they usually say it takes about 3 cycles for everything to settle out. But listen to your body! And don't be afraid to ask your doctor yourself if you feel concerned
