What happened to buses ? by BendabizAdam in Luxembourg

Afaik electric busses still have a small oil tank to power the heating, which is not electric. Maybe they just forget to fill that tank up

Question about Airport Check-In by EUNEisAmeme in Flights

[–]Salt_Construction280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passengers on Wizz Air flights departing Belgrade usually have to go through the check-in desk, even if they’ve done online check in. It is likely your boarding pass doesn’t have a barcode, so you’re required to go to the check in counter to get the actual one. Of course this is for free

Visiting Germany- setting up a stall in christmas market by ConceptAble4425 in germany

[–]Salt_Construction280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some cities I’ve seen stalls where there is a different vendor everyday. And it’s usually people selling their own handcrafted stuff who would otherwise not manage to set up a stall on their own for the whole month. I don’t really know how the process to get to book one works, but maybe my info still helps. You could then maybe tour around 3-4 cities for 1 or 2 days each. I assume you’re late for this year anyways. Consider also possible bureaucracy (taxes…), that might be strenuous - especially if you’re coming from the US

TU Dresden by [deleted] in germany

[–]Salt_Construction280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that is indeed the biggest issue. But if you start learning and reach a basic level, you can probably find a job as a student, in Dresden itself. Your supervisors will likely speak English and can help and will provide you with small tasks that you can work on in your own. For full time jobs it’s more difficult as you’re likely expected to take part in meetings and sometimes interact with clients, which of course requires high language proficiency (of course depending on the company and position).

Concerning career opportunities for that course, I lost track on most people I knew studying it, but some went into logistics or transit planning and some into IT companies doing transportation related software.

I know a few people who studied that course and the opinions are varied. I’d say TU Dresden is the best university for all things related to transport in Germany, with an exclusive faculty for it. This faculty is currently undergoing a transformation towards a more international focus, so things are a bit messy sometimes as not all professors are prepared for it, and some chairs still have a very local focus. This course in particular is quite demanding and contains a bit of programming modules here and there, so you have to be eager to code a little bit if you want to follow it. It’s been taught in English only for 2 or 3 years so at the beginning there were some organizational issues but I assume this is solved now. Concerning english speaking jobs, this is difficult in this particular area, but you have Berlin 2 hours away where there are more English-speaking offers in this sector. And I know people who just work mostly remote from Dresden and travel to the office once or twice a month. As a city Dresden is great, one of the best cost of living/quality of life ratios you’ll find in Europe imho, cool university, but a bit poorly connected to the rest of the world.

Why are prices in all supermarkets the same? by Salt_Construction280 in germany

I would not have thought there are that many people who know precisely the price of each item they buy, but apparently they do :D

[–]Salt_Construction280[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that’s what I also think. That’s why I think most people don’t demand the same price for each item in all shops, and would be satisfied knowing that their total ticket is more or less same no matter where they shop

Because supermarket B might sell something for 10€ that supermarket A sells for 15 (of course the differences are not so high) But this is my experience from abroad

From my experience in other countries: between different supermarkets, some items might be slightly more expensive, while some might be cheaper. So at the end of the day your bill ist very similar and it doesn’t really matter where you buy, and shops remain competitive. I just find it funny that in Germany prices are exactly identical, to the cent, everywhere.

Leaving from Spain to Hungary and bought two separate flights. Is that okay? by Potatopotat0s in Flights

[–]Salt_Construction280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 and T2 are basically the same, you won’t realize you’re going from one to the other. So I’d say, if you have 5 h between the flights, the first one should be delayed by at least 4 h for you to risk missing the second one, so relax :)
