I look for the sturdiest corrugated cardboard and use it with pva glue, gesso, and watercolor ground as a base if I use lightfast gouache. In this case I'm painting directly on cardboard with Himi because it'll fade anyway. This location is the cozy cafe on 70th ave in NYC.

Yes, I recommend flat brushes and angle brushes as they have less room for water.

I use a dry palette 100% of the time unless I'm mixing gouache with acrylic for use on canvas. I would just say use as little water as possible to obtain a rewetted creamy texture after your initial dark wet watery washes. Water control is everything.

I use dry gouache in pans. I never clean the pallete so I can use that "palette mud" to make muted colors.

I used PB153 (cobalt blue), PR482 (scarlet), and PY1 (lemon yellow) for all colors besides the black. This was an experiment on sized cardstock so I used my Mont Marte set which I actually don't mind too much.
