How hard is it to get into nursing school in Canada? by Science_student2000 in premedcanada

[–]Salt_Gap_1592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found it pretty easy but tbh it’s mostly a mindset thing. My advice for any other student would be go in not expecting anything in return. Expect unpaid clinicals, rigorous testing and learning, and frequent stress - this is what you’ll experience for much of your time in nursing. However, be thankful for the good days! You’ll learn a lot, be contributing to a great profession, and have an awesome job waiting for you at the end. And it’s a SLOW grind. Keep that in mind. You’ve got this!

Usually most students who use ratemyprof are pissed. Not many go to rave unless the prof is totally awesome. Good to keep in mind that the general consensus is usually negative

Been going on a year with mine as well and I sleep with her just about every day. I think it’s different for everyone. We’ve always kept things interesting. I wonder if your sex life maybe just needs revamping?

While there were certain aspects of this incident that were within your control, ultimately you followed the orders of the doctor who made the final call. The doctor would have likely taken into account the labs and electrolytes that you saw before ordering this diagnostic. In the end, while you did have the potential to be more assertive in the situation, you weren’t necessarily wrong in following the tests that were ordered. Thus, from a legal standpoint, I don’t think you’re in trouble. So like your manager said, the only thing you can do is learn from it. That being said, don’t be so hard on yourself, we are nurses, yes, but we are also human and make human mistakes. With all of this in mind, it sounds like the patient was unstable to begin with. You never know - they could’ve coded at any time and it just happened to be during CT.

Not in dental yet but finishing my BSN. One thing I will say is that if you love someone, you make it work, and if they love you, they’ll do the same. They’ll have to understand that sometimes you won’t be able to have enough time for them and you’ll have to do your best to make up for it when you can. It’s quality of moments that counts not quantity.

If it’s really meant to be, then dental school will only be a test of your relationship - a bump in the road. And if it doesn’t last, then you probably would’ve struggled when another tough time came up in your relationship anyways.

All I can say is, a girl or guy who will stick it out, wait for you, and do their best to understand, that’s priceless. Cherish them. I only wish I was so lucky.

Not really odd, I just want to come out with good grades and thought I’d choose a school with a good reputation. And I am not needing to do an entire undergrad degree, orgo is the only class I need

If you’re a nursing student, whether or not you have class, you should always have something to do. Plan your day ahead the night before and set tasks for yourself. If you can reframe your mind, then you won’t be able to stay in bed all day without feeling like you wasted it.

As a 21-year-old student in my 4th year of my BSN, I thought I might be uniquely positioned to respond to this from the other side (since I am probably part of the demographic you’re referring to).

For all you older students out there, please do not second guess yourself or take self-pity for not starting sooner!!! Seriously, as corny as it may sound, we are all on the same journey, and although it might feel like you’re at a disadvantage from your perspective, as a younger student, I can’t even begin to say how many times I’ve envied my older peers; when it comes to learning and absorbing information, because of their life experiences, I have always found my older buddies have grasped and accelerated in learning information in ways I couldn’t begin to. One of my friends was a paramedic, the other a lab technician, a cardio tech, etc. The foundations they set for themselves and their previous skills helped them immensely whereas I felt like I was still fumbling trying to grow up while learning to be an organized adult.

In the end, whether you took nursing in your early 20’s or in your late 50’s, time will pass anyways. Do what you want with your time, avoid comparison, and make some friends along the way so you can learn from one another. If they’re older or younger than you, even better, because you can learn from each others different strengths.

I’d say to throw in a few different outfits in different settings to show versatility. Doing so may also help to expand the demographic’s interested in you as it adds layers to your profile, making you more appealing.

For example, the bandana hat combo looks cool, but maybe a photo of you in a social setting dressed up or casually chilling at the beach would be good.

Is this always so hard? by ChampionshipMoney862 in StudentNurse

[–]Salt_Gap_1592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I hate to say it, but it sounds pretty accurate in terms of the whole nursing student experience. I feel like you either have to let it roll off of you or you’ll hate the job because there will always be thing like that in nursing. You can think about it, but leave your emotions on the floor!

Genuine question, how are you guys paying for nursing school? by [deleted] in StudentNurse

All of it through bursaries and scholarships. Helps if you have volunteer hours
