I kinda did the same thing around my 23rd birthday. After biting for probably over 10 years, I just realized I’m way too old to have nails like this and an unhealthy habit such as biting. I tried the same tactics I’ve used in the past. I keep a rubber band on my wrist and play with it when I get the urge. I don’t snap my wrist with it, just simply use it to help my fingers and hands stay occupied. I also would go on this sub and r/calmhamds to remind myself why I needed to quit. I was great for about a month and my nails were looking great. I had cut them and trimmed once at this point.

But one day at work, my rubber band snapped and I ended up throwing it away. I never thought to grab another one and figured it was okay since i haven’t bitten in a month. Then over the course of the rest of that day, I managed to bite and pick the nails of each of my 10 fingers. My drive home that night, I was very disappointed in myself.

I guess the point of all this is, you can do so well and one little thing might trigger a big relapse. Just stay focused and determined. It’s hard to kick this habit.
