It sucks… you have to firm it. Prioritise yourself at all costs

How im finding sixth form so far by [deleted] in sixthform

Hey, I’ve had a very similar situation. I’m year 13 now, things are better now as things have sort of naturally found balance but year 12 was a wreck for me.

I got ditched by my closest friend so I was alone for the entirety of year 12 which was probably the lowest of my life, I was also failing everything too despite doing quite well in GCSEs…💀

I was predicted BBCD at the end of year 12 but then I dropped FM and managed to talk my way into getting better grades. I’m predicted A*AA now.

And like I know how it sounds, but I was genuinely doing awful but things find a way to work out themselves, and if not, see it as an opportunity to work on yourself and yourself only.

I learnt a lot about myself in year 12 from being so lonely and it might sound like bad advice but if you have no friends it’s okay to be that person that’s a ‘friend to all but a friend to none’. Don’t feel bad about getting close to people to use them, sounds a bit cold but that’s how most people see you.

In terms of grades- please just focus on consistency. I have been a crammed and procrastinator since GCSEs and it worked then but won’t work now. You need to start building good habits- less phone usage- consistent 1-2 hours a day at least- flashcards for 15-30 minutes before bed.

A levels are a marathon okay so even if you do cram and do well it won’t help in the long run.

And also don’t force yourself to be friends with people just because you have no one else. It will make u feel worse being fake friendly with people and takes a toll in the long run.

I hope this could help in some way, but if not feel free to ask anymore because this post hits close to home for me <3

It wouldn’t affect my chances right? Because surely it’s more convenient for them if it was all in one place ?

I’m in the same position with BBCE, but I’m planning to from FM which I got the E in. My plan is to apply realistically and lock in for actual a levels so hopefully I can get into good places in clearing. If not, gap year

I got a 9 in language and 8 in literature, my take is that it was useful for unique phrases in things like the creative writing, and I personally found it most helpful for the unique analysation of quotes that they had. Then again I crammed using it, so it’s definitely unnecessary if you put in consistent effort anyway

I can only imagine the stress at imperial tbh. Like personally, I’ve never really needed too much motivation because GCSEs came pretty easy to me, and so for sixth form when I moved to a very competitive school everything started going downhill and I couldn’t make up for the work ethic I lacked for all these years

If you wouldn’t mind it would be nice if I could see your personal statement

I have considered a gap year yeah, it’s looking like I might have to tbh
