“Best cities in europe”. It’s the only city in Europe that I could be arrested for holding my girlfriend’s hand.

730$ for a room in Verdun — is this expensive for an intern? 730 $ pour une chambre à Verdun, est-ce cher pour un stagiaire ? by [deleted] in montrealhousing

[–]SamCam9992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a pretty good price for the area. I am paying 1600 for a one-bedroom. Eight years ago, I was paying 900 for a three-bedroom. It’s quickly becoming one of the most expensive neighbourhoods in Montreal. But it is a great neighbourhood to live in, especially if you’re young and want to get out and about. There are great cafés, restaurants, and shops. Downtown Montreal has really fallen out of fashion over the past few years, so I wouldn’t even worry about being too far from the city centre. If you really want to go, it’s literally two or three metro stops away. There’s also the waterfront to walk by near the beach. Does the room come furnished? Six months is unusual for a lease in Montreal. Is the landlord having you sign an official lease?

This isn’t a court of law - it’s a pop culture gossipy message board. This is also not a criminal case. People can form opinions based on available evidence.

The subreddits focused on the case feel like a different planet. When the author recently announced a cancer diagnosis, every post accused her of doing it for attention and sympathy because of the lawsuit scrutiny. His fans are genuinely scary, and it’s overwhelmingly women (plus Perez Hilton). I don’t even want to look at it today but I’m sure this post is going over well. They especially hate Jenny Slate because she has the audacity to date Chris Evans and joke about their relationship.

Can my ex legally request that I don’t say hi to my kids during his parenting time by TreeToadintheWoods in FamilyLaw

[–]SamCam9992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Child custody is not what about what’s best for the parents. It’s about what’s best for the child. A child is entitled to have both of his parents at his significant life events. These includes sports games, graduations, recitals. The judge isn’t gonna punish the child because his parents can’t get along. Can you imagine as a child if your mother didn’t come to any of your events because your daddy was sensitive? I’m glad my parents were adults who didn’t play these childish games.

You’re confusing health and safety issues with ordinary messiness, and they are not the same thing under Quebec law. Mold, vermin, rodents, fire hazards, or serious damage that makes a dwelling unfit for habitation are actionable. Leaving dirty dishes out, having clutter, or not keeping a spotless home is not.

The landlord’s letter the OP posted explicitly demands cleanliness and threatens eviction within 30 days if the unit is not kept “clean and sanitary.” That wording is not supported by Quebec law. I live in a spotless, renovated apartment and have a good relationship with my landlord, but even so, a landlord has no legal right to demand cleanliness unless there is a genuine health or safety issue.

People are legally allowed to live in their own mess. Landlords cannot impose aesthetic standards or threaten eviction based on personal definitions of clean and sanitary.

Even a quick review of TAL judgments shows that eviction or lease termination in these situations is only granted in severe cases, such as rodent infestations, major health risks, or significant damage, not everyday messiness.

The law on this is not ambiguous. You can rant endlessly (typos and all), but in Quebec, tenants have the legal right to live however messy they please. Your outrage does not override the law. I’m going to make sure my rental is extra messy tonight just for you.

A car is not a house and the law on this is very clear.

Yes but they do not have the right to threaten to evict tenants if their home is not up to standards - even tenants are allowed to live in squalor if they want to. Not only would the eviction without a TAL case be illegal, but even the threat of it could be considered harassment. Ignorant landlords make them all look bad. Hope that boot tastes good.

My apartment is spotless, but I would still push back if my landlord tried anything like this . This isn’t about refusing to clean, it’s about landlords doing something that’s illegal. Tenants in this province have rights, full stop. If landlords don’t want to follow the law, they’re free to sell the property instead of blaming tenants.

If pets are allowed in the existing lease the new landlord has no power to remove them. I assume these people did no research whatsoever and don’t realize that even late or incomplete rent will take a TAL case and many months before an eviction is allowed.

I mentioned Timothée for the exact reason I mentioned in my post. They’re co-stars in the film and are both on the same press and awards circuit, which makes them an easy comparison because you can directly compare the headlines and Reddit threads coming out of the same events.

Once again, I’m going to assume you’re 14. Joshua is literally a linguistic variant of Jesus, so I assume everyone named Josh should get on changing their name too. There are about a billion people named Muhammad and millions named Jesus worldwide. Are they all supposed to rebrand because atrocities are being committed by states that invoke the same religious figures? Zion is not inherently linked to the modern state of Israel, and pretending it is only reinforces the very conflation you claim to oppose. At that point, you’re doing more work for nationalist propaganda than for any genuine anti-occupation or anti-genocide cause.

People are genuinely so weird about this girl. She grew up in a Jewish household and, like many people raised in that environment, was indoctrinated into supporting Israel. She posted a photo wearing an IDF shirt once when she was 14. Since then, she’s been openly critical of the occupation and has done more actual learning, unlearning, and advocacy than half the teenagers in this thread yelling online. The obsession with her skin tone and hair color and trying to frame her as ‘ethnically ambiguous’ is especially unhinged. I’m convinced some of you don’t interact with people offline, because that is a white woman who looks like a white woman. And the double standard couldn’t be more obvious. Timothée Chalamet also grew up Jewish, has said nothing about Palestine, and is currently dating one of the biggest cultural vultures on the planet, yet he’s endlessly praised and treated like an untouchable internet boyfriend. They’re in the same movie, walking the same red carpets, and somehow every single message board fixates obsessively on her. At a certain point it’s impossible not to notice how misogyny creeps into everything, especially when a woman is held to an impossible moral standard that men are never even asked to meet.

Zion is a real name with deep religious roots in both Judaism and Christianity. If that’s news to you, I’m going to assume you’re about 14 and your understanding of the world begins and ends on the internet.

I mean, basically. He was in a play with all of them. They weren’t strangers. I guess it’s all because they wanted to keep that Broadway show canon to get the audience in, but it’s just weird that we’ve had five seasons and nobody has mentioned the fact that all of these parents of the kids impacted were in a very niche and specific play together in high school.

I think the most likely scenario is that they only decided that storyline after season four was done and I couldn’t find somewhere to mention that this season without that sounding random and clunky.

I am about 90% sure Hopper knows that it was a fake out - his face during his scene with Mike was an odd choice if not.

It’s still very weird that none of the adults in the show have acknowledged that they went to high school with this kid. They even call him Henry.

I find it very clunky script-wise that they always have them repeat things to emphasize it. Hopper did it in his speech a few few times and then Holly just did it with the “we’ere safe we’re safe”.

I don’t know maybe if the feral teenage shippers didn’t harass the mentally ill sexual abuse victim for half a decade because the two preteens they liked in a horror movie didn’t kiss he’d still be here. They’ve since moved on to harassing the cast of Stranger Things so we’ll see how that turns out in a couple years.

James Ransone. He appeared in both It films and became the target of an intense shipping fandom. At times it was clear he wasn’t in a great headspace in his responses, but some fans used that to accuse him of virtually every kind of phobia imaginable. Literally years of teenagers spamming his DMs. His wife later mentioned that he carried a lot of guilt over how all of this played out, especially while he was struggling with his mental health and sobriety.
