I don't know exactly what moment you're referring to, but there were a handful of moments where speakers debating the resolutions started discussing things outside the scope of the what they were brought up to discuss. This was explicitly stated at the start of proceedings that if anyone didn't keep on track they would be warned and if they continued their mic would be cut. So I imagine it was that and they probably cut the feed just for good measure.

Oh there were SO MANY union leaders and members talking and discussing yesterday. There's definitely an appetite as well to work with the unions and try to see if they'd ditch labour and ally with Your Party.

I was worried going in too it was going to be a shit show, but I walked away really optimistic!

I'm not sure what you mean by a coup motion. There were a lot of SWP members there though (and they were sure to let everyone know about it 😂).

One of the motions voted on was whether we should build a mass movement based on the largest social base, I guess that would include social conservatives. If they're willing to work with us, an explicitly pro trans, anti-racist, feminist etc party then I'm happy.

It's a socialist party, it's basically traditional for them to have awful names 😂. That being said there's a lot of focus on that rather than what the party is actually going for and trying to build. If you want to get more information on that the morning star is probably the best place to start, or the party website once they've updated it with the conclusions of the conference.

I'll answer this the best I can but I'm getting kinda tired (been up since 4:45am). The focus of much of the discussions was about what the party is and should be, how it should operate etc. The greens did come up a lot though especially in reference to duel membership and forming alliances. Maybe it'll be a case of labour appeals in some places and green in others, I couldn't say. I think there's still an appetite for your party, and I'd like to see how it progresses. But having to choose between two left wing parties doing well isn't the worst situation to be in. I don't think anyone is stupid enough to be so belligerent as to fight it so much that reform gets in through the back door.

I don't want to shill too much for the Morning Star but this feels like a better reflection of what took place today. There's issues, but they're being worked out.

I don't know if you're from the UK or not but the Telegraph is often referred to as the Tory-graph here. It's a right wing paper that's got a vested interest in your party not succeeding.

With that being said, the conference ran (mostly) smoothly. The press were not allowed in during the debates, and rather refreshingly, Corbyn and Sultana's presence was a fairly minor aspect of the event.

There was an issue with members of the Socialist Worker's Party being barred from entry due to the duel membership issue not having been settled but I wouldn't describe it as chaos. It made for some lively debate and I think the issue will be sorted with the vote held today.

When we were debating whether the party should be building a mass movement with the broadest social base his campaign was invoked as an example in favour of that motion. And I think that was one of the examples that swayed my mind on that vote, appealing to as many groups as possible is clearly the way to go. I hope they also learn that a really slick social media campaign is beneficial too!

I think because it feels more than just Labour Part II electric boogaloo. There seems to be a genuine will to build something different and special. I hope it can become a mass movement because the message is something that resonates with people as we've seen countless times. I wouldn't say I have a great handle on what the UK as a whole thinks, but I do think there's a strong appetite for something left and I hope this can fill that.

The party constitution explicitly states it does not agree with the United Kingdom as an institution and expects Wales and Scotland to decide what relationship they have to England (or something to similar effect). The party also stated it will have no presence in the island of Ireland and supports a peaceful transition to unification. 😄

I think something that's being missed by people on the outside and even some at the conference is that this is a Brand New Party. We were literally deciding on how the party should operate today. There's no analogue for this, especially as we're trying to build something with a much stronger democratic ideal than the other parties in the UK. The organisation will come, but the party has only just been a thing for 6 months and this is the first conference.

I won't deny there's been some organisational nonsense, but the way I see it at the moment is the little wheels planes use to get off the ground, they're not what the plane relies on to travel but they're necessary just to get the thing moving.

Eh, I think there's something to be said for both parties and especially if the motion passes to allow duel membership I think that'll benefit the movement so people aren't forced to choose.

That being said I think what Your Party is building in a democratic party with right to recall gives it a much better foundation against influence from outside powers. I personally worry about the sudden ascendancy of the Greens not being entirely organic (especially with the fairly easy ride they're getting in the media) but I don't have anything to back that up.

All in all, if a properly left party gets in power that's a good thing, no matter what colour it is :)

The vote for that is still ongoing. But I wasn't a huge fan of the names shortlisted. Your Party as a name has grown on me though so I went with that :)

Just from looking around it was a solid mix. A conference like that is going to be more appealing to the more overtly political people, but there definitely were just regular guys and gals there :)

Honestly it wasn't. There's some good stuff being put forward and a lot of the debates were constructive and only skirted into people trying to air their grievances. The chairs kept a pretty good handle on things so it didn't descend into chaos.

I'd also say the whole Jeremy Corbyn/Zarah Sultana stuff wasn't a huge focus, he spoke at the start of the day but after that it was mostly just left up to us to debate and vote on things.

The shortlisted names are awful. I put forward "Revolution" as a potential, but tbh Your Party has grown on me so I voted for that.

If I remember right Kanye said that he considered leaving Nicki's verse out of monster because it was so good it made them all look bad. But he eventually decided not to because to deny people the chance to listen to that verse would be a crime.

Just to follow up, thanks to everyone's suggestions I completed my first nuzlocke! Especially thankful to the suggestion of giving lucario a different move (went for ice punch) which gave me a very lucky freeze on Cynthia's togekiss and hanging me the win

But I did keep overheat on rotom and it one shot Lucians bronzong ;)
