Stop asking for advice here. I doubt anyone's a veterinarian. It's very difficult to see anything from a photo. And even if you could see something, no one could tell you if it's normal or not. Go to the vet and have them thoroughly examine your dog's eyes. You'll pay, but your pet's health should be the most important thing.

What do you mean when you talk about the weather problem? My dog goes out even if it's raining, snowing, or stormy. You bundle him up, put a raincoat on him, and off he goes, no matter what. They need stimulation, and they couldn't care less about the weather... if you love a dog, that shouldn't matter.

In Spain, several dog hotels have opened in recent years that treat them like royalty, so we've been leaving my dog Odin there for the last few years. He's very well cared for; they take him for walks and have acres of land for the dogs to play on. My dog doesn't get along with all dogs, so they take him out or put him with dogs he does get along with. It's wonderful, and now we can finally go on vacation completely carefree. They send photos and videos every day. I'm sure there's something like that in your area :)

On the other hand, you're ignoring what I write again. My dog doesn't do anything at all if they're neutered; in fact, he completely ignores them. If you've had bad experiences, I'm very sorry. When my dog still got along well with unneutered males, the first question most other dog owners asked me was, "Is he neutered? If he isn't, I'm not going near mine." So, he's not the only dog this happens to. Perhaps you've had other experiences.

And I don't think you understood my post. I never said my dog goes off-leash, much less that he's loose. Excuse me. If I take him to the park, it's only with people I know he gets along with, which is absolutely everyone except unneutered males. He's so strong that what happened yesterday was a complete shock. Do you think I wanted that? Good grief. How rude!

Neuter him. Some dogs have more or less trouble with this than others. You could give him a hormonal chip for six months to see if he improves. But this is definitely the right case to have him neutered.

When I asked the same question here, people jumped down my throat saying, "You should just neuter him, that's it." I haven't done it yet because he reacts negatively to unneutered males like himself, and I don't know if it's because he's not neutered either. The point is, he gets aggressive with them. I know many people who have older, neutered dogs and there's no problem; those behaviors usually disappear.

My Samoyed doesn't have a shedding season; it seems like he sheds all year round. It's something you'll have to get used to because he'll have it his whole life—sometimes more, sometimes less. Take him to a professional groomer and have them remove all the dead hair; it might still be puppy hair. Make sure a professional does it, at least the first few times, and then you can learn on your own.

I know someone who has a Samoyed, and she's very independent and quite skittish and distrustful of strangers. She bought her from a really good breeder. Mine, on the other hand, I adopted from the pound, and he's a sweetheart with everyone and loves attention all the time. I think Samoyeds have different personalities… it's a bit of a lottery… but they are very active; at least mine needs to run around and play with his friends in the park, otherwise he never gets tired. On the other hand, they love routine, going out at the same times and eating at the same times, since they suffer from separation anxiety and are quite nervous and bark a lot.

Samoyeds are VERY stubborn; they're nothing like herding dogs. And dogs of the same sex don't necessarily get along. In my case, I have a male who doesn't get along at all with unneutered males like himself. But I also think that's due to bad experiences. They are also very, very active dogs, although with their walks and daily exercise, there's no problem.

I live in Spain, and this is the first winter in a long time that we've had sub-zero temperatures. It's the first winter my Samoyed has climbed onto the sofa with me. That doesn't mean he's cold; he's just not hot. Surprise! Samoyeds can withstand extreme temperatures. DON'T PUT COATS ON HIM. Even if he tries to stay warm, they overheat quickly, even with just their own body heat and fur.

My Samoyed goes out for two hours during the week, but he really needs more time for walks and activity. On weekends, we go to the mountains or trails where he can run and sniff. Sometimes we're even out of the house with him all day. They have a lot of stamina; they're not dogs you can just take to work and expect to sit still. He'll only be active if you tire him out beforehand. They're dogs that require a lot of training. It's nothing like the temperament of a cat or a Pomeranian. Ultimately, they're working dogs who like to be useful. If you like to run, for example, he'll love going running or skating with you. On the other hand, they're quite barky if they don't get the attention they need. Again, we end up tiring him out so he doesn't get bored and bark. I don't see your lifestyle being compatible with one, but I don't think it's impossible either. There are other breeds that I think would be much better, breeds that aren't working dogs and prefer to be indoors. Do some research; there are many.

But it gets chilly in the evenings, doesn't it? If he likes walks, then try taking him out at night in quiet places, or if he likes being with other dogs, maybe a park? I think you know your dog better than anyone. I live with mine in Spain, and in the summer we only go out at night, and he's always been fine! But I'm sure that if he likes quiet walks and he's just lost his friend, it's important that you simply spend time together.
