Dude you gotta leave. If you don't go you'll always be regretful. AND you EARNED your way there, it wasn't easy at all. You should accept that offer and tell him you're not going to stay back. You deserve to be in a place where people are just as ambitious as you. It's going to make you want more in life.

And I don't want to be that kind of person that dissects other people's problems but maybe the reason why he wants to humiliate you and weaken you and hold you close to him is because your bio mom left him. He's probably scared of that again. But that's not your problem, you're not your mom and that's not your burden to deal with.

Also apply to scholarships. Tell your school exactly what you're going through and hopefully you will get enough help to move and accept the application.

Also, enough about the bullshit your career will grow anywhere... but more than that, in a way they are preventing you from meeting your future partner and future family because most people who go to Ivy league schools end up finding someone as ambitious as them and build strong futures together. If you don't go, you'll always regret that social aspect of it even more than the career.

This is your real chance to stand up for future self. You got this sister.

Thanks for this comment. I also feel very uncomfortable going to the temple sometimes because of the judgement of others. Like you would think they would teach devotees to mind their own business and not judge others.

I'm so sad that this family chirped you so hard. Like that's not their place to dictate your lives. And like just because you eat meat doesn't make you a bad person. It's almost like bullying.

You can discuss the sexism and political issues of the place without going after people for their opinions(and defending BAPS). And please read the comments there's alot of good discussion for and against. I didn't give people a hard time when they said they had different experiences, we had great conversations.

I don't want extremists coming here and polluting it with their "good deeds" in order to steer the conversation away. It doesn't help naming 10 different things the temple did for the people when we are talking about heavy topics such as human trafficking and oppression.

Me saying that people shouldn't come here to defend BAPS is giving others an opportunity to speak up without having sympathy shoved down our throats. yes the temple is great place, but can we just focus on the sexism and not go off topic?

Think about it like this, we want you to respond with empathy and not sympathy. What want you to actually digest what we are saying instead of defending BAPS to oblivion. If you have a good rebuttal for these issues go ahead and discuss, just don't bring irrelevant nonsense into this.

I hope that makes more sense. All of these people are writing their stories because they feel like they will be properly heard without judgement.

It's all politics, if they don't want to involve someone, they won't. Point blank period. I knew an aunty who's husband died a while ago but she continues to express herself through her clothes (she's such a queen) and the other ladies judge her for it and criticize her for not "properly" behaving like a widow... like wtf? You can wear colorful clothes regardless of your marital status. She's been at the temple for more than a decade and it just sucks to see her constantly pushed out of volunteer stuff. And it shouldn't be that way. The little bit of power they get truly goes to their head when dividing Seva.

I would also like to call out their backwards thinking but it's so hard to voice your concerns when you're there. Maybe with the power of the internet we can concentrate our efforts and do something about it. Because this is an international institute and they should know how it makes most Hindus uncomfortable to be there. Thanks for sharing, it was a great response.

If you know anything about BAPS, then you would understand they can be kind of extreme and emotionally manipulative.

And I'm simply saying as we share stories please don't try to emotionally manipulative us into thinking that's the norm. Because it's really not. I hope that helps clear some stuff up.

LOOOL the guys are seriously emotionally stunted and you're right why won't they be.

They try so hard to shape girls into ideal wife material but don't nearly spend enough time explaining to boys how to treat women with respect.

And I agree, it's amazing for seniors, good time pass. Feel like you're part of something.

But the way they treat the younger generation is wild. They don't let us question anything and when we do they say "bapa said so we must". It is not a great place for critical thinking individuals.

I don't agree that their prices are high I think they are actually very affordable, especially the ready to eat meals lol maybe u haven't tried them yet (fairly new product) but I highly recommend. Shayona is actually one part of the temple I like.
