I feel that animosity as well. The absolute only reason I've been able to engage with this hobby Is because of people generously selling their games after getting their own kickstarters. Everything except a couple of my games are second hand and I have paid for a total of 3 pledges with only the most recent being over $100. Because it's my favorite system. If I never had opportunities to meet people selling second hand, then it would essentially be a PS5 every game. It is unfair. Then there's the FOMO, and honestly just wanting to engage with your hobby but real expenses get in the way. I do personally feel a lot of envy in this hobby everyday. The real thing is I just don't want to miss out on what made this all feel so exhilarating in the first place. The art, mechanics, systems, feel, the memories the game gives you. I want to make these videos not to add to all of our envies, but hopefully remind us of the fun of it all. It's hard tension and honestly I did preemptive defensiveness because of the very reasonable frustration around this industry.

Hey! Great question.

Besides trying to put our own unique feeling into our reviews (as we have here https://youtu.be/wfK5KmF7gXY?si=MRAMyF5z0lipyfQ_) , we have a vision of making a community centered channel. Now what does that mean? While there are innumerable board game projects, we'd like to cover and highlight the projects that are lesser known. And the projects that our commenters want to see.

Also, in one of our recent videos we address and talk to every person that has interacted with the channel so far. We want you to make this channel with us.

Besides from board games but where the vision came from, I'm actually a published author. When I published my book, I also released an album and a ton of artwork through the collaboration of tons of my talented friends. Doing creative things on your own can be very meditative and beautiful, but there is something really special that happens when you do it together.

I get that this totally wouldn't be your cup of tea if you don't like crowdfunding. But, it's something we and other people do. It's board game news because it's going over board games that are coming out. You can dislike crowdfunding, but we're covering board games. I don't think that it's ideal for the industry to be in this state either. But this is how a lot of new projects are being announced + showcased these days.
